Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

The HfP chat thread – Saturday 4th September

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

VS Flying Club points for July VAR+ credit card still not yet posted to VS app or Virgin Red app.

Last points sweep dates back to end June, so definitely a whole month’s worth of points for qualifying purchases is missing.

Just me, or anyone else in similar position ?

    • Mel T says:

My points are there… July and August both present and correct.

    • Degsy says:

Nothing missing for the last few months although I do remember there was one month earlier this year where the miles took >3 weeks to post. If you’ve not had anything since June though then defo worth calling

    • Memesweeper says:

All showing in the app here

Thanks for making me check — turns out I’ve earned a voucher!

  • TGLoyalty says:

I’m 99.9% sure it’ll post within the month or they’ll give it to you as you paid on the 23rd.

  • Jason says:

do you need to register for Virgin card cash back offers like amex? i have both supermarket and a Morrison specific ones. thanks

  • AJA says:

I’ve just discovered that Axa Insurance UK no longer offers travel insurance for new customers! I had it as a saved bookmark as I had an annual policy but cancelled ealy last year when it became clear that travel wasn’t happening for a while.

    The following message pops up:
“AXA Insurance UK no longer provides travel insurance for new customers.

Existing customers can still access their account online.”

I’m guessing that you are still covered until the policy ends and then they won’t renew? Also isn’t Amex’s Platinum Card insurance via Axa? Is that continuing?
