On the day that a wave of American Express hotel cashback offers close, Amex has launched a new cashback deal with Preferred Hotels.

You will receive £100 cashback when you spend £400 by 30th November.

If you are targetted for this offer, you will see it under the ‘Offers’ tab on your statement page on the Amex website or in the app. Remember to check for each card you hold, and click ‘Save to Card’ if you are interested.

£100 cashback at Preferred Hotels

Preferred Hotels Group is not a hotel chain, which is why you may not know it.  It is basically a marketing consortium made up of a number of independent hotels from around the world.

There are over 650 hotels represented from 80 countries.  Almost all of the hotels trade under their historic names with the phrase ‘A member of Preferred Hotels’ tacked on the end.

The quality is generally high.  Click here and you will see the hotels taking part in the offer, which are all in Europe. Almost 25 hotels are in the UK. In London, for example, they have The Beaumont, The Stafford, Royal Lancaster, Sea Containers Hotel and The Bentley amongst others. The Lowry in Manchester and The Grand in York are also included.

If you planning a Winter break, there are a lot of Spanish hotels listed including two in Palma and one on Menorca.

Don’t forget to sign up to the iPrefer loyalty programme before your stay – details here.  Whilst a low profile scheme the company claims to have 2.5 million members.

Full details of their hotels are on the Preferred Hotels site here.

Thinking of a long weekend at The Grand in York. Any views or experiences of what it’s like?

  • Craig says:

I was really excited by this offer. Spend £400 by the end of November. What you didnt point out is the ‘stay by date’ is also at the end of Nov. I have just wasted an hour researching hotels in California for a trip early next year.

    • TGLoyalty says:

This issue is that you don’t understand how these offers work not Robs wording.

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

Notwithstanding any confusion about stay by dates, if you’d read the article more carefully, you’d have saved yourself looking at hotels in California for an hour.

      • Peter K says:

Indeed. “You will see the hotels taking part in the offer, **which are all in Europe**”.

        • Andrew says:

California is about half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Closest Preferred hotel would be the old Course at St Andrews

I think the OP may be creating his own adversity here.

  • rj24 says:

Off topic: I see the advert for expresstest (by Cignpost) at the top of the page. I’ve tried on multiple different occasions to book a day 2 test at Heathrow T5 and the website doesn’t show any dates. The calendar freezes and I can’t proceed any further. An email last week to their customer service has so far gone unanswered. Anyone had any joy?

    • tony says:

I don’t think the calendar is freezing. There’s simply no availability. There is some at other heathrow locations so if you select that then shift the location to T5, the previous date selected seems to stick.

Flying with my wife BA CW to JFK in December on 777 fitted with new CW Suite. Anyone have thoughts on best seats for 2pp together?

  • Cinimo says:

I’m looking for a 5* hotel for a day in Paris in October. I don’t know any of the preferred hotels, but I can see the are a few in the list for the offer. Are there any experiences/recommendations for them?
    Thanks.

  • Mo Farah says:

Off topic. I’d book a Maldives gateaway for mid September on offer credit to HfP. Even though on Red List, I was still looking forward to it. Problem is BA cancelled outgoing flight, no alternative given and now can’t get through to them over phone past 5 days! Is anyone else experiencing the same and how do I go about this? I’m happy for BA to shift me to a Qatar plane that flies the day before or after my initial date.

  • Ian says:

OT – has anyone else had an offer of 15,000 Virgin Red points to switch current accounts?

  • MichaelH says:

Would appreciate any advice as to whether the Preferred offer on Amex is only on a minimum £400 room spend or if it’s on the total bill at checkout. I can’t find anything clear in the T&Cs for the offer. Thanks
