There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

Any recommendations for those of us who mostly dine solo? Looking for the more casual and faster serving places, not overly fancy. Central London is ideal, most likely pre-theatre times. I’m thinking The Ivy will be fine, but £200 would cover a few meals so other ideas are welcome.

  I’m always at the Wolseley on my own – especially for breakfast or lunch. Just depends on how comfortable you feel – personally I’m more than happy on my own.

  Have a look at Brasserie Zedel, smack in the centre of theatreland. A proper sit-down restaurant with prix fixe or a la carte, and a bar with light snacks. French food served inside what appears to be a Fabergé egg.

    Seconded. This is an amazing space (the old Atlantic Bar and Grill if you’re my age), huge, buzzy and the sort of place where you can eat alone without looking out of place.

  Contact Amex on chat and ask them to manually add the international dinning offer. It takes a bit of time to get them to understand but they get it in the end. I did it this morning

How does the double stack work with offers? E.g. if I went to Bentley’s Oyster and used the spend 100 get 20 back offer, combined with the 200 voucher offer, how much would be deducted from my voucher? Would it be 100 removed from the voucher and 20 given in statement credit?
