There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

This may be an obvious one but is it a *total* £200 refund? Or is it up to £200 max but can be had multiple times? So if I dine 2 times in participating venues from today until 31-Dec-21 and spend £200 on each occasion how much refund do I get?

Be interested to know if there are any gift voucher options for Ivy or Corbin & King groups? Almost certainly you’d have to buy in a restaurant to trigger the correct merchant ID but not sure if they sell them or not

    I checked with Amex on chat and they confirmed that new applicants will get this offer. I don’t see this offer on my Business plat, which they couldn’t add manually. So then I asked if my wife were to apply for the personal plat today, will she get it…- received a positive response. I have saved a screenshot of my conversation and will be applying for wifey’s platinum today.

      In Amex “contact us” for me today it said “chat available 24/7” but no way of starting chat… I’d like to be able to ask the same question as thinking of getting the card. 65,000 points plus the other stuff makes it worthwhile anyway, but the £200 would be nice…

      Kings Road was actually the first place we went in May when restaurants reopened. The key benefits are:
      
      *they spend such ludicrous amounts of money on decor that it is hard not to be impressed and to feel a sense of occasion
      *menu is huge so its impossible not to find something you want
      *food is far better quality than you expect, easily the best quality of any chain restaurant
      *pricing in London is VERY reasonable, probably 30% less than a decent independent restaurant (obviously this is not the case outside London where £16 for a main course sends people apopletic)
      *staff are uniformly excellent
      *kids are treated well by the staff and have lots to choose from, either off a kids menu or from burgers etc on the main menu

    It is not worded particularly well, as at first glance it seems as though you can go to restaurant A spend £200, get 100% statement credit, and then restaurant B and again spend £200, get 100% statement credit.

  Highly doubt you will get this offer if you dont already hold the card. The £175 offer came out mid January 2021 and the cut off for eligibility was to have held the card from early January 2021
