We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I’ve just made a 241 LHR to MAN booking and cancelled for a voucher straight away as my 241 will expire shortly and I need to make a booking in the next few days for next year.

The FTV email I received has 2 codes, is this correct?

  • PerkyPat says:

Has anyone been through arrivals at FRA recently? Just wondering what the waiting time might be.

  • @mkcol says:

So if I understand the 0ne for Awl T&Cs I can apply Clause 10.1 during Clause 12.1 to obtain a full refund to my bank account.

    Or am I misunderstanding?

    • Memesweeper says:

IANAL … but looks good to me

I might punt a single card on a test, I’ve found them very difficult to use in the past

  • Peter says:

    Thailand in the red list.

I’ve used Avios upgrade voucher to book return flight to BKK in Nov and started thinking that I have to cancel the trip. As currently I have two FTVs in hand so I’m thinking if there is good way to get cash for the upgrade voucher when cancelling it or do I have to hold the upgrade voucher which might be uselss for me?

    Thanks.

    • Sam G says:

Personally I’d sit on it. Pretty good chance those BKK flights will get cancelled and then you can shift them up to a year into the future without needing Avios availability under the new ticket validity rules

    • Harry T says:

Just wait for BA to cancel – then you can move the flights for free up to 12 months from the original departure date.

      • Peter says:

thanks for your both response. but the question is that I have two unused FTV already and this extra upgrade voucher will be useless for me …

        • meta says:

Then if they cancel you can get a full refund. Either way, I’d wait.

  • Andrew says:

The Collinson unsupervised antigen self-test – is that’s acceptable for a vaccinated amber arrival? Apart from someone guiding you through the process is there any difference in terms of acceptability between supervised or unsupervised? And I’m assuming that Collinson aren’t rogue traders as they are being promoted by Amex with the 20% off code?

  • mark2 says:

Amex offer on Gold: Spend £80 get £10 back.
or buy One4All at Morrison’s and get 10% back on any amount at B&Q and many others.

  • Andrew says:

Just got an email from Amex about the 100MR on £1 spend – they are marketing it as ‘winning’ 100 points – and suggests it’s a monthly thing with ‘September wins’ and ‘October wins’ greyed out at the top. Maybe more generous ‘wins’ to come?

    • Rhys says:

Yes, very weird that they market it as ‘winning’ as it appears to be on everyone’s cards!

      • Cats are best says:

To ‘win’ you need to be one of the first ten thousand to claim it.

        It’s a game of skill 🙂

        • Andrew says:

Maybe this is their way of encouraging everyone to check their offers regularly – my Dad was aghast that I check my offers daily when I had to remind him there was even an offers tab.

      • TGLoyalty says:

        Deffo not on everyone’s cards

Missing from a Plat and BAPP here but can see others have on these cards.

      • Paul Pogba says:

Its the 2020s, we’re ALL winners; prizes for everybody 🙂

  • BuildBackBetter says:

Amex is indeed trolling us. The email for the £1 spend = 100 MR offer states:

“You can feel like a winner right now”.

Have they started hiring interns for the loyalty department?
