The HfP chat thread – Thursday 12th August

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I stayed here back in June, offer didn’t redeem on card just showed as saved Amex manually did it after 4 weeks and a phone call

  • KBuffett says:

Busy day on the comments today!

    • BSI1978 says:

Yup, agreed. Particularly notable in that there hasn’t been a showstopping update that would normally lead to 500+ posts!

      • Mike says:

Well wasn’t there the announcement of the amount paid in compensation for the ba data breech ?

        • Lord Doncaster says:

          Which nobody can corroborate

          • Mike says:

No but I did google ba data breach pay out and it takes me a HFP web page where someone said “low hundreds” and Dave posts £520 as the figure he has to spend

  • Anna says:

Just doing our PLFs for return to U.K. tomorrow. I have included our son & nephew (both 15) on my OH’s form. It asked for his Day 2 test booking ref but not theirs. Will they still check if they do the tests or not?!

    • Tony1 says:

      Doubt it.

But as you have paid for the tests, there is no harm in doing them anyway.

      Safe Travel

  • GaryE says:

Question: Easyjet freedom to change flight bookings up to 2hours before departure – valid to 30th September 2021 – If I change my mind and decide not to travel must I change my booking to another location or to same location for a future date or can I take a credit voucher to spend in the next x months – it is unclear from my reading of the T&Cs.

  • Ls says:

I posted my Randox day 2 test back to them and didn’t hear anything. Turns out I shouldn’t have posted it, but put it in a special pickup box.
What will happen? Will it ever get processed? Will I get in trouble if not?

    • Simon says:

OMG !!! the Testing gestapo will be monitoring your IP address and arriving at your door any moment now !!

Not really, forget about it. Lost in post. Naughty Radox. Forget about it…..

      • Anna says:

The mistake may have been ordering the test from Radox 😂

        • TGLoyalty says:

Dropped mine off Tuesday @ 4:15pm (says pick up is at 5) there were 3 drop boxes and none overflowing. Email @ 6am Wed to say they received. Result at 3:30pm Wed

Can’t fault that service for £43.

          • Harry T says:

Randox are brilliant – testing turn around is rapid and communication is clear. I think some rival testing companies have found the three overflowing test boxes and smeared them hava

          • Jamie says:

As with everything, YMMV – ordered two tests from Randox and they never arrived – no response to e-mails and impossible to get through on the phone. Had to chargeback via CC to get a refund.

          • Mrs_Fussy says:

Agreed. Could fault Randox tests arrived within 24 hours

    • Tony1 says:

Same for me for Expert Medicals.
      Took tests, sent off, nada.
TBH will be leaving UK Sunday so ….looks like a CC Charge back

  • Kian says:

Thinking to use Chronomics antigen test for travelling to Portugal. For those who have used Chronomics before, may I ask what manufacturer of the cassette is written on the certificate and whether the certificate has a time of the test (for example Qured only has date)? Thanks!

    • meta says:

Qured one has time stamp. Mine at least do People here reported that they used Chronomics for Portugal without a problem, but it takes one check-in agent who is on a power trip to ruin your trip. Best get an in-person antigen test with Collinson at St Pancras for £32 with BA/Amex code or Dam Health for £29.

    • TGLoyalty says:

It has both collection and report date/time stamps

      Sample type: Nasal Swab
Test: Immunochromatograpic SARS-CoV-2nucleocapsid assay (lateral flow)

  • KBuffett says:

The BP offer has disappeared from my Amex Plat Charge. I’ve noted the comments on Page 2

    • tintin38 says:

Yes lots of saved Amex offers seem to have gone AWOL on all my cards. Seems like (another) Amex IT issue. Amex chat assured me that saved offers still saved on their back end systems. Took screenshot of chat since they don’t offer ability to email chat transcript.

    • Peter K says:

Has Sweaty Betty disappeared from anyone’s card? Thought not.

    • Lee says:

Damn, just tested one card by buying Amazon GC. Still has 2 to use now all disappeared

  • MJ says:

My BP & Hilton offers have arrived back.
