Get 10,000 bonus IHG Rewards hotel points per night on Kimpton stays

IHG’s Kimpton brand has launched an interesting new sale.

For stays booked at the ‘Kimpton Summer Sale’ rate by 9th August, for stays up to 30th December, you will receive 10,000 bonus IHG Rewards points per night.

Nothing is that simple of course:

the bonus points are not elite qualifying, so don’t help towards status

the ‘Kimpton Summer Sale’ rates are more expensive than some other rates

you can only book via a specific link which is here

That said …. there IS value here in some cases.

We would value 10,000 IHG Rewards points at around £40 as this article explains. Here is a screenshot from Kimpton Clocktower in Manchester for a Monday in August:

You are paying £14 extra per night in order to receive 10,000 bonus IHG Rewards points per night. This is a great deal in my book. The maths may not always be as favourable though.

The ‘Kimpton Summer Sale’ is also more flexible that the ‘Advance Saver’ rate, although not by much. You get an additional six days leeway to cancel without penalty.

Re Kimpton stays, some people may have saved the Amex offers “IHG Spend £350 or more, get £100 back by 31st August, on InterContinental, Regent and Kimpton Hotels” from a few months ago.

    The AMEX / IHG offer could make this really attractive. I’ve saved it to my card.
    
    Sadly for me, although I’ve got a Kimpton Fitzroy stay booked for later in August, the price difference between this rate and the member rate is circa £40. Not worth it for 10k IHG points.

  Does anyone know if this is cumulative? I have a stay booked where they will take a 1 night deposit a week before and the rest at check out. Happy to spend in the restaurant and bar and charge it to the room to get to the £350 if not.

What a user-friendly promotion… I don’t think. After 5 minutes, I’ve only managed to establish the price difference between rates for 2 consecutive dates. The forced switches in and out of the app really kill user experience.

Just notice the website provided by Rob is better deal than IHG app. Rob any idea whether IHG 2x/3x offer would also be triggered on top of 10k bonus points?

The new St Pancras testing center possibly explains why the Crowne Plaza Kings Cross hotel has been requisitioned by the government for quarantine (I had my reservation rather bluntly cancelled a couple of weeks ago).

  Also it’s not been “requisitioned” they tendered for a government contract and won. You should request compo/moving somewhere else as they are moving you on due to more £££ for themselves.

    A polite (and persistent) request to the hotel for what you’ve said is the way to respond to *any* hotel that claims it’s been “requisitioned” for Covid. It’s an outright lie.
    
    The IHG IC in Docklands at Excel being the other p1$$takers with a number of reports on here of that hotel untruthfully advising guests holding reservations of the same.

  Do the regs allow govt to requisition with no option by hotel operator to refuse, and if so, has the govt actually exercised this power in reality ?
  
  Or is it purely within the gift of operators to sign up or not ?
  
  Genuine question as I don’t know the answer myself, but knowing the facts should allow removal of any inaccurate nuances in language used.

    Let’s be honest … if the Govt WAS requisitioning hotels, why would it requisition one in Central London which is hard to secure and which requires the guests to sit in a bus together for up to 90 minutes when there are a huge number of empty hotels around Heathrow?!

      I did have a moan and I did get 10,000 points as a gesture, but I’m under no illusions that the hotel was fully onboard when asked if it wanted to be a Q hotel. It was the way they handled the cancellation of my reservation which annoyed me most.

Re entry to Ireland. “This does NOT apply to children aged 12-17, however, who must show a negative PCR test on entry even though their vaccinated parents and younger siblings do not.” Do children aged 12-17 also have to quarantine irrespective of negative PCR test?
