The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 21st July

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Does anyone have a link to a BA chat? They’ve told me to contact them that way, but the link provided is just general page!

Or a BA WhatsApp number? The one someone gave me looked great..but turned out to be for Virgin ;o)

(I’m guessing there’s no east email address)

Want to leave some form of contact today to say no, I don’t just want my deposit back following the cancellation!

    Cheers!

    • Harry T says:

BA don’t do whatsapp. You should be able to find the chat box in the bottom right hand corner on the desktop site if you go to the contact page.

    • ChrisC says:

up thread when I asked this very same question the answer was to set BA to another country (such as Ireland) and then the chat option would appear.

  • PK says:

I am not able to login to my Creation account, and there is a message when I try to log-in:

“Your account has been suspended. Please call one of our service representatives.”

I have had Creation card for many years but never had my account blocked. Does anyone know what to expect when I call them first thing tomorrow morning?

    • Harry T says:

What have you been up to recently? If it involves MS, then you can assume there may be some questions about that.

      • PK says:

I did some MS last week but very low amount £500 or so. But there are some transactions that I don’t want them to see notably Che and Seagulls. I am worried that I am going to get grilled tomorrow. 🙁

        • The Original Nick says:

Mine is OK. I’ve been and still did tonight pay my bill with my Virgin card and all went through OK.

        • Harry T says:

This is the risk that everyone runs when they engage in these activities. Just got to hope for the best! If you clearly have the income to support the activities, then you have a better chance of a good outcome.

          • MM says:

What is creation, Ms, seagull and Che….. Secret language!!!

          • Harrier25 says:

Yes, very secret. So much so that if I tell you I’d have to shoot you! 😂

          • Pete M says:

            That’s the whole point, MM…

          • Ash says:

If you don’t know mm don’t worry about it. Looks like that ship is about to set sail…

          • Amy carpenter says:

Yep I’ve been trying to work out MS for a while. Wish someone would spill beans 🙁

          • QFFlyer says:

Well, Creation’s not really a secret code for anything

        • Harrier25 says:

When they blocked my account due to a Bendy cash withdrawal, they just asked me to confirm that the last few transactions were made by me and warned me about cash advance fees for cash withdrawals. They then unblocked my account and no cash advance fees materialised, just additional IHG Rewards points were collected for the Bendy cash withdrawal, as usual.

          • VerdantBacon says:

@Amy MS just stands for Manufactured Spend, the idea of “faking” spend on cards

          • Harrier25 says:

I’d hate it to continue keeping you awake all night wondering @ Amy carpenter….MS = Manufactured Spend. Sleep well!! 😴

        • Peter K says:

Che and Seagulls are MS as well!!

    • Yorkie Aid says:

Have they already tried calling you too? I had that and it was purely to confirm whether it was definitely me making a transaction.

    • Jimbob says:

I wouldn’t worry, £500 of ms is nothing.
They might warn you regarding Bendy or Che, but nothing is likely to come of it

  • TGLoyalty says:
