  Why will the government allow me to get on a plane with 220 other people and fly back from an Amber listed country and que up next to thousands of other people in Heathrow but then not allow me to walk my dog outside down the canal path whilst I’m in quarentine?

    Because the 220 are all flying back from the same amber country and expected to do the same.

    It’s about the unknown of your solo journeys where you see “no one”

        Haha if you’ve read my posts I’m furthest from a supporter of this nonsense but self isolation is either isolation or not.

        You can’t start talking about scenarios where it’s ok if you see no one etc. Just stick to the rules or don’t and face the consequences if you get caught.

          I haven’t said its okay to do anything?I’m just asking a logical question.
          Why are people who are isolating or in quarantine not allowed to go outdoors
          when we have thousands of drunk people jumping all over each other at the football?

          It’s not really logical it’s lots of random statements now.

          – It’s been decided travelling in the U.K. is an acceptable risk for everyone.

          -it’s been decided travelling abroad is an unacceptable risk without mitigation’s in place (green/amber/red etc)
          – It’s been decided if you’ve been double vaccinated it’s an acceptable risk to travel back to amber too from next Monday.

          It’s not about where you can or can’t “catch Covid” but about the risk those scenarios pose and what you can do to mitigate them.

        And you can’t be expected to fly back on an aircarft to yourself – so it’s what’s practical rather than what’s convenient to you.

          Obviously! But if anyone has covid on the plane the tests flag it.
          During quarantine we should still be allowed to leave our house for other outdoor areas, the risk is obviously minimal hence Wimbledon.
          They are treating us like zoo animals.

          TGL** No not lots of random questions just the same one.
          All the vulnerable are vaccinated.
          Wimbledon and Wembley had thousands of fans that were drunk all crammed in like sardines wearing no masks.
          But you still can’t head outside and walk your dog in isolation or quarentine.

      Agreed Chris. And the government should have checkpoints on the border of every county within the U.K. where your Covid papers are checked.

      Should have to show a PCR test before putting more than £10 of fuel in your car to prevent spreading the virus domestically.

      Those who are supposed to be isolating should have a marker placed on their front door for the duration of their isolation so neighbours are aware and can report any breaches.

      I still don’t understand why lists aren’t published in local newspapers or online of those who have tested positive. Maybe a FOI request could get the names of those who brought the Delta variant to GB’s shores earlier this year?

  Nobody has said it is impossible to catch outside. And those ‘test events’ did require PCR tests to further reduce risks. Transmission at other test events did occur but the numbers were low.

  In terms of why the message is “stay home” it’s because it’s a simple one. Driving to the countryside in say rural North Yorkshire would be a different to someone living in London with no car in terms of the risk of transmission outdoors including getting there in the first place.

    Quarentine from Amber countries requires pcr tests, also most Amber countries have less covid than Manchester and I can still go there and come home and walk my dog.

      Tell me about it! I’m in the UAE right now where cases have consistently been far lower per capita and vaccination rates far higher.

      I am heading over Greece next with without an issue and just a PCR test on arrival, no quarantine. If I want to go home to see friends and family this summer on Covid island I need to do 10 nights in a government hotel at huge cost and an inordinate amount of testing.

      So I don’t at all agree with the U.K. approach given I’ve been effectively locked out for 6 months. But meanwhile I’m happily heading to the USA and mainland Europe.

        Disagree with the case rate. The rate per 100k was well above the rate in the U.K. ever since it went on the red list.

          UK cases per 100k =309
          United Arab Emirates per 100k =109

          You are wrong on that TGLoyalty. The UAE is also testing about 200k people a day with a population of only 9m or so.

          The UAE and ME3 are on this list because they are transit hubs.
