The HfP chat thread – Saturday 10th July

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I’ve just ordered my day 2 test for our evening flight tomorrow to Edinburgh. As per the guidance, I did it through the official website. It has been 2 hours since then, still no email confirmation and the support tells me it can take 3 days. I’ve not come across that. Has anyone had a similar experience?

    • meta says:

      Which provider did you use?

    • Colin MacKinnon says:

Wife has done this twice with the Scottish company.
Both times she got the receipt of payment in a few minutes, then had to wait a few hours for the email confirmation with the number for the UK passenger locator form.

      • Patrycja says:

Thanks Colin, it’s been 3 hours and still not a single email

        • Gtellez says:

Last time I did it (like 10 days ago), it took around 10 min, but it was a weekday. In June I did it on a Sunday and it didn’t arrive until the next morning, so that may be the reason.

          • Patrycja says:

Do you actually have to show the email at check in? I managed to get to someone who gave me the booking reference number to use of PLF. hoping email will come through tomorrow in the morning

  • Chris says:

Is anyone else seeing a delay in the BP Amex statement credits? Normally Amex credits come through a day maybe two after the transaction posts, but I’m now at t+5 days with no credit…..

centre court (and no1) available for mens final tomorrow via the official website… unbelievable!

    • Dave says:

      Just missed them!!

    • ben says:

just no1 court showing for me

      • Babyg says:

centre court tix seem to come and go (quickly).. need to basically sit there refreshing…

    • mr_jetlag says:

had a v enjoyable finals day today at the ladies’ finals, also the Amex lounge queue was almost nonexistent right before the match so got to enjoy that too. Well done to Barty and I hope wimbledon keeps the online resales system open for 2022.

Would appreciate any help understanding the guidance for multiple trips from UK to EU…

We will be coming back from Croatia on 24 August and then leaving for Switzerland on 26 August. I have conflicting info on the government websites – in one place it says that you need to book your day 2 test even if you are not here to take it, in another place it says you can say you are transiting through the country with a landside layover and can mark yourself as exempt.

Anyone have any idea what to do?

    • Yorkieflyer says:

If overnight transit you are supposed to book a 2 day test from 19 July. It is really a 0,1 or 2 day test

  • Marie says:

We have been track and traced from a plane journey and are isolating. Does anyone know if the whole plane is contacted or just those in adjacent seats . We didn’t sit in allocated seats , but obviously on the passenger locator form we had to put our reserved seat numbers on .
    Thoughts?
