We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    Update from SS DV, following the email saying it could be rebooked if cancelled inside the cancellation period, a few hours later a second email was sent saying that they hadnt checked the booking rate and as it was a points booking they couldnt confirm if the points would be returned if cancelled.

    I also asked about ambassador and they said that ambassador benefits would be recognised.

      Same situation for me. Called IHG in case they can extend the cancellation deadline or move the reservation. Spent 20 on hold while they were trying to figure it out – answer is that they can do neither. Spire Elite… I guess I’ll have to cancel which is a shame, I don’t expect the suites will ever be available at that points price again (90k).

    I asked yesterday but think it got missed.

    Does anybody know of the ‘3k points for additional cardholders’ on the Gold Biz Amex is still running? It has stopped showing on offers page now

      I mean its free to get so do it, see if you get the points. Does not impact anyone’s credit score, and takes c1min to do. No one knows if it has stopped running. They used to give the points before the offer was advertised I found anyway.

    Virgin CC voucher upgrade / companion voucher – do you lose it if you close the card or are you safe since it’s loaded to the Flying Club account? My new card year starts in December, not sure I want to keep it open but at the same time don’t think I’ll have made a booking using the voucher by that time

      I’ve closed a CC and it has been confirmed the voucher is still on my FC account.

        But, I did get the free card before cancelling the premium, so I have never actually been without a CC….

      My wife closed her CC account 12+ months ago and still has two vouchers showing in her Flying Club account.

    Anyone having problems paying Virgin via Curve. When they ask for app approval it just keeps swirling when I approve the payment, so I move to using SMS which goes through but keeps telling me my bank said no. It worked 2 days ago, I have used my backing card (bezos) to make other payments so I know it isn’t locked.

    Hey folks – apologies, probably asked a million times already, but have had to book a last minute flight for tomorrow and need an antigen test done today. What’s the best/cheapest way to do this in London? (flight is tomorrow evening so got a bit of time.. just)

    Hi. I earned a companion voucher mid June. It hasn’t arrived in my BA account, but amex say they issued it. I haven’t received any email about it. Can BA resolve?
