We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

      Centre court is gone. Do we know if Amex ticketmaster has exclusive set of tickets for sale at 10am? Or I should bite the bullet and buy Court no.1?

        They release Mon-Wed on Saturday morning, then Thur/Friday this morning. So I would imagine Saturday (and maybe more) appears Thursday morning but it could come sooner.

    Has anyone seen a definitive version of the current requirements to enter the Canary Islands (though obviously this could change at any time!) I have variously read that you don’t need a pre-departure test to enter the islands, that you do unless you’re vaccinated/recovered and that all travellers need one if they are staying in tourist accommodation (which of course applies to most people departing the UK. It’s really confusing. The official Spanish government website is not much help as it just seems to have a list of regions it classes as “risk” but not what the entry requirements are.

      I believe the change is that UK becomes a ‘risk’ third country, so UK pax will need PCR test or EU/WHO approved vaccine etc., in addition to completing the Spanish pre-travel form.

      For definitive info I think you will need to wait for the new country list to be formally published, presumably later this week.

        Thanks – maybe I’m just not seeing it but this just seems to have a list of countries but no details as to what’s actually required?!

        Tui travel website is saying no exemptions and everyone needs a PCR test which I’m not sure is right but certainly encourages people to buy their testing packages!

          The test vaccine/requirements are ‘hidden’ in the Health Control Form tab.

          The site linked by Sandgrounder has the easy to read summary of these, for the county list it points back to the gob.es site.

          I just got back from there, entry to ACE a couple of weeks ago required only the FCS form, no checking for a PCR test which is needed if staying in a hotel (it’s up to accommodation provider to check guest’s test status).

          What will change is blanket requirement for a PCR test to enter, presumably within 48 hours prior to entry, but again I think we need to wait for the gob.es site to update.

          I’m hoping to be back there in a few weeks so watching closely!

            The official websites are not great. A flow chart or a decision tree tool would not be hard to create and would be a welcome addition.

            Thanks, let us know if you see anything! I have emailed the place where we are booked to stay asking for specific clarification about Tenerife and tourist accommodation requirements but it only re-opened yesterday and you never know in any case whether anyone actually monitors communications in resorts!

      Anna Daughter off to Lanzarote 16th Aug but with 2 boys but can’t self-isolate on return as oldest starts High-school Sept and she’s a care-worker overseeing young asylum seekers awaiting decision’s. so could be bad news, missed holiday last year, but got her money back
      She doesn’t hold hope of getting it back with voluntary cancel
      Unfortunatly not in same position as us she can only afford one holiday a year
      That’s main reason I’ve said she can come Dubrovnik with us next year

      My understanding is that tourist accommodation requires a test, even if entry to the islands doesn’t.

      To visit the Canary Islands, there are two regulations in place:
      -1st: international arrivals. The international border restrictions are set by the Spanish Gov. From Thu, you will need vaccination record, proof of disease recovery, or test (PCR or similars, antigen test are also valid) within 48h of arrival into Spain. Everyone entering Spain must fill the SpHealth questionnaire. <12 are exempt.
      -2nd: staying in regulated tourist accommodation. These rules are set by the regional government of the Canary Islands. (Point 3 of the Hellocanaryislads.com site linked below/above). Diagnostic tests within 72h of arrival, vaccination (full schedule or at least 1 dose at least 14 days prior to arrival) or proof of recovery. Children <12yo, are exempt of these regulations.

        In summary, if you’ve been vaccinated with the full schedule, you are all good. No tests required.
        If you haven’t been vaccinated, you need a negative COVID-19 diagnostics test (PCR, TMA or antigen) within 48h of entering Spain, or proof of recovery (max 6 months).

          Me and husband – vaccinated so no test required
          Nephew – ditto as recovered from Covid last month, just needs GP letter
          Son – needs test (but this will only be required at our accommodation, not at border control)?

            If he hasn’t bee vaccinated, and it’s older than 12yo, test is required to enter Spain (it can be PCR, TMA or antigen test, within 48h of arrival).

    Hi, does anyone know how long the credit takes to post on the dell offer? From experience most AMEX offers post quickly but nothing yet on my AMEX plat credit? I did check I was fully signed up prior to purchasing. Thanks

        Just checked the dates:

        22/6 Purchase
        24/6 Date of record that Amex records the purchase as pending
        25/6 Item arrives
        28/6 Purchase clears Amex, credit applied.

    Good to see Aerlingus have extended their flights from Belfast to Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham until end of Oct, not sure if the pricing has been loaded wrong though. I was looking at a long weekend in September and the cheapest saver ticket was over £100 each way and it’s the same for most dates. I can get a return with Easyjet with luggage for less than that….

      Yep. Manchester the same. £240 return for few days in September. Surprised. I really thought they would be competitive to steal passengers from EZY. I’m sure they’ve done their research and think they can fill seats at this price but surely this is a more leisure/price sensitive market at this current time.

        EasyJet fly from a dump of an airfield half way to Muff though, and Belfast City is the airport *in* Belfast. I’ll pay a premium for that.
