    Maybe, but have had too many trips cancelled so happy to wait a bit longer to travel. We were supposed to be in Sicily last week and in my wife & son in Cannes this weekend. Am consoling her with langoustines and Puligny-Montrachet at home instead.

      OK that’s not so bad a rationale. But people actually scared of flying – 70% of UK population? – is not something I like to see.

      Boris & team to blame – let’s scare the spritzer out of them & keep staycation money in UK, methinks.

        It’s nothing like 70% “scared.” Most have decided it’s not worth the hassle (and risk of increased hassle) and have bitten the bullet – booking something domestic if they can.

        Remember most poeple are not ultra-experienced travellers in the same way as HfP regulars and don’t have the same pool of resources to fall back on – trivial issues to you may be quite big obstacles to them. It’s quite reasonable to be “scared” of problems they would struggle to manage like either the UK or your destination changing rules and requirements at any given moment in ways that you can’t predict, last minute flight cancellations, struggling to find comprehensive travel insurance, etc, etc, etc. Above a certain threshold of planning, organisation stress and uncertainty (a threshold that will be different for everyone), it’s a laborious management project, not fun leisure travel … and if it’s not fun it’s entirely rational not to do it.

          Indeed. A common advice on HfP is if a country you’re in suddenly is added to the Red list, “just” fly to and Amber country instead and spend 10 days there before returning to the UK. No biggie.

    The water suite is clearly a better appointed and larger room. Depends whether you’d rather have that or a view of the pitch, which IMO is pretty unremarkable after the first 5 mins.

  I know this is not the place for politics. So it will get lost. But give it 60 minutes. Maybe a reply or 2.

  Matt Hancock. He bloody worked 20 hour days for over a year. He did his best. I personally appreciate his work. Admittedly, that possibly included some Matt mates – who cares?

  Who would want the worst job in a pandemic?

  Admittedly, also a stupid arse to cheat on his wife of 15 years – and what about those 3 kids? What are they thinking?

  Much better to get it out of your system when you are younger, I never cheated on my wife in 20 years of marriage as I got all I wanted in the previous 30 years lol.

  Anyway – nobody seems to be supporting Matt the silly arse – but I think the work he did was very good & as a taxpayer I appreciate it. Not these days a natural Conservative voter as we like to keep them at bay.

    I’m in agreement with you Hilton guy – the revelling that some people take in other people’s demise is quite astounding. I appreciate the hard work he and the rest of government has put in over the last 18 months and without a credible opposition party, they will be able to govern for the foreseeable future thankfully.
