The HfP chat thread – Sunday 27th June

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Is it just me or is BA cramming more people into CE on A321s? I recently flew CE to Spain and again now to Cyprus and CE has been configured on both flights for 12 rows. The flight now was maxed out over 12 rows…48 people sharing the one toilet! I think that worse than economy isn’t it?

    • Tom says:

I think CE is very popular at present due to the perceived extra space!

Does anyone know if the LHR immigration queues can be avoided by booking a meet & greet service? Thanks so much.

    • kitten says:

I would not wish to encourage what I’ve seen in America however I’ve a vague recollection of people on those motorised invalid trucks being taken to a queue at the side, I think it was T2 LHR not long after it opened

  • Let's fly says:

Is there a way to find out what meals are served on a flight? Not menu but lunch, dinner, snack etc?
    It’s BA2159 01Aug and BA200 on 10 Aug… to St Lucia and back…

    • Andrew says:

Lunch or dinner, it’s all the same. You’ll get a hot main meal after take off and then a second smaller meal – afternoon tea on outbound and breakfast on inbound. Depending on the cabin, second meal might be hot or cold.

    • Karen says:

Hot meal on the way out, choice of beef, chicken curry or veggie . Then an hour before landing pastie or panini. Accurate 2 days ago and staff were great 👍

  • Wimberry says:

Silly question, but trying to trigger the Amex £50 back on Hilton spend.

Going for the Diamond status match this year. Booked a room with a one night deposit for a stupidly cheap rate. The remaining balance is over the £200 trigger. Having checked in I can see that I’ve got a hold on the card for the remaining balance. Looking at my app I can see that the offer will only trigger on “pay at checkout”. Online spend is explicitly excluded. As I assume this is a hold, can I assume that I will be *charged* on check out?

    • Rob says:

Not necessarily – you can swap it for another card during your stay if you wish but, yes, they will use the hold to settle your bill otherwise.
