We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Apologies if it has been asked before, but how can I make overpayments to my Halifax mortgage account using Bendy?

And is it possible to cancel the mortgage direct debit and pay every month using bendy?

  • Doug M says:

Gievn the mentions here I think it’s popular with a number of readers.

  • MarkS says:

Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to merge 2 BA bookings together for the same flights on the same day? Had to book separately but would just make life easier if they’re together on the same booking so all 4 people are on the same one.

    • Sam G says:

      You can’t

If there is a gold card holder travelling they can request “To Complete Party” so you can get seats together without paying but it still stays as two separate bookings

  • TJ says:

Haven’t seen this before for Amber list countries, but BA using traveldocs.ba.com to upload any required docs prior to online check-in (e.g. Cyprus flight pass). Just another step in the process but will hopefully make things easier at check-in/boarding. I just have to wait for them to verify the docs.

    • Wollhouse says:

Does anyone know how/what they check? There are quite a few posters with the issue of vax docs from outside the uk that their doctors are saying they can’t/won’t put onto the system; or in Scotland where the info isn’t available yet in the app – so wondering if going through this route would help (or make worse!) for eliminating headaches at the airport?

  • Cup says:

About testing: if there are supplier issues with day 2 tests (failure to return test results back), does that prevent me from using Test to Release?

    • Aaron C says:

No. The day 5 is a standalone test. Dunno what would happen if the day 2 came back late and was positive though!

    • Tracey says:

You can’t be released from TTR until you have your day 2 result.

    Hi All

Would appreciate thoughts on me cancelling my BA Premium Plus Amex.

I already earned my companion voucher for this card year back in Feb. My card year ends next month.

Due to Covid, and having flights, hotels etc refunded that I had paid on the card, I am now sat on minus 13,000 Avios, so it looks like I would have to spend £13k again just to get back to zero and then another £10k my July 2022 to earn another voucher.

I do like the card, and have always used the vouchers, and think I will continue to do so. In my shoes would you cancel and reapply in a few months? I don’t want to wait for another ‘new customer’ bonus (think that’s 24 months anyway), but just wipe the slate and start from zero again to give a realistic chance of hitting the companion voucher spend target.

    Thoughts appreciated

    • Memesweeper says:

Yes, I’d drop the card. Wait a few months, perhaps until you’ve spent your newest voucher, and start again.

Some pretty dodgy ads you’re serving us up today Rob – “Scandalous statement by Sam Allardyce” with photos of Big Sam and a yacht, linking to shortlisttop10pokies.com, which seems to be some kind of Bitcoin scam pretending to be the Mirror newspaper

    • M says:

Hmm I am getting BA… Maybe your dodgy ads have something to do with some dodgy browsing history? 😁😁😁

      • Mouse says:

Haha could be! Really should stop searching for nudie photos of Big Sam

    • Mouse says:

Also getting “Brendson launches new project” with a picture of Richard Branson, linking to the same dodgy site

      • Rob says:

We blocked that but Google likes to keep taking the cash for a few hours after putting in a block.

  • Aston100 says:

Well, looks like Boris has given the greenlight for everyone not to social distance anymore.

    • Aston100 says:

Is there a list somewhere of all the rules that members of this government have broken, but which they expect the rest of us to follow?

      • Cabal of rabid baboons says:

I’m sure you’d have posted a link if there was?

    • Andrew says:

If there was a true “red light”, then Google and Apple would have been instructed to shut down “dating apps” 16 months ago.

I can’t recall anything to say that acquiring a new or additional partner is banned.

    • AJA says:

Well you are allowed to hug your grandma again…. So it turns out Hancock is not quite as useless as Cummings revealed. Unless Hancock is going to employ the Clinton defence? Besides with BoJo’s record this is a minor indiscretion. He can hardly expect his cabinet to be held to higher standards than he is.
