  Question on BA Holidays – 99% sure I know the answer but have been reading the T&Cs so many times I have confused myself 🙂

  We have a booking to Croatia for 17th July for a 10 day holiday (Flight + Hotel).
  Final payment needs to be made by tomorrow and right now there are no issues with entry to Croatia (Double Vacc for UK citizen/Negative Test).

  If we confirm and pay the outstanding amount but then mandatory quarantine is introduced, I would be able to move the booking to different dates for a £100 fee (up to 3 days before) correct?

  Guessing the moving of dates could also be to less than 10 days – for example 5 days in October Half term, if travel is allowed again etc.

    I think BAs book with confidence policy means you can move it and pay the difference or get an FTV

  Hilton Cancellation Policy – I’m looking at a few hotels to book and the cheapest rates say:

  Guarantee Policy – this reservation requires a credit card deposit of GBPxx.xx for 1 night which will be charged to your card.

  Cancellation Policy – if you wish to cancel please do so 7 days prior to arrival to avoid cancellation penalties.

  Does anyone have experience as to whether if you cancel more than 7 days in advance the deposit is refundable? Hotels are in UK and Malta if that matters.

  Has anyone been able to transfer Avios to Nectar points recently? I waited with hold music for over an hour this morning without being able to speak to anyone. I know that ostensibly the online transfers can’t happen because of IT improvements, but it seems to me BA is trying to do all it can to ensure transfers only happen one way.

    The Hyatt offer may well work, I doubt the Hilton offer will!
    You need to check the list of participating hotels and the Ts and Cs in your Amex account so you meet all the relevant criteria.

  Malta ! Arrgh
  We are 2 vaccinated adults with a 15 year old who has had covid and a 12 year old turning 13 on July 7th. Holiday booked for Malta on 4th July. I cannot believe they can prejudice against teenagers!
  Anyone see any way around cancelling and going to Wales?

    Have they definitely said teenagers will need to quarantine, I haven’t seen the full report?
    It depends who you’ve booked with and what their Ts and Cs are.

        Marie/Anna – that’s only IF you have to undergo mandatory quarantine. Right now, over 5’s can show a negative PCR test OR a vaccine. From 1 July, this still appears to be the case. if you arrive without either, then they will possibly fine you, but will require you have a pcr test and stay home/hotel until it’s negative. if it came back positive, then you’d fall into the mandatory quarantine rules. https://www.visitmalta.com/en/info/new-covid-19-updates/

          I’ve just realised this – the Telegraph is reporting that it’s from June 30th so maybe they’ve got it wrong? I can’t find it reported anywhere else on the internet.

          Malta excludes under 5s from PCR . Children under 12 of vaccinated adults are allowed in with PCR .
          Over 12s no mention-implication is that as not vaccinated and not a small child either not allowed in without quarantine.
          In Malta they are starting immunizations for 12-16 next week which may be why they feel this approach is validated .
          It seems we can go to Malta but not with our children as they happen to be teenagers
          Europe may follow suit .

    The Johnson variant is rife in schools. Schools staff absence due covid related issues is at 2% nationally up from 0.7% just 7 days ago. My own kids school has majority of years 8 and 10 isolating after surge testing and many teachers too.

    The summer is a right off, no matter what this chaotic administration say.

  What’s the latest with cancelling Avios redemptions:
  -is there a trick to do it online
  – I can’t keep track, how much is the cancellation cost on a European flight (is it £1 still?)
  – I assume if I go for the voucher option I get the Avios back plus taxes as the voucher?

    Until June 30th. No mention of after July 1st when they adopt the EU green pass (fully Vaccinated or cert of Covid infection in past 6 months or negative test) weather U.K. nhs app will be accepted is another story. #brexit

          No- it’s not changed. (Yet!!) it’s been that policy for some weeks now. And my friends that live there (that have been tested at the airport after visiting family abroad) all said they’ve had very quick results and been able to go about their lives

      Malta will ask for proof of vaccination from UK arrivals from 30 June, a statement says.

      The restriction comes a day after the UK government moved Malta to its green list, meaning British holidaymakers do not need to quarantine on their return.

      A statement on Malta’s Department of Information Facebook page says: As from 30 June, all passengers flying to Malta from the UK, upon arrival, shall need to present a vaccine certificate/passport which needs to be recognized by the Maltese Health Authorities.

      “Failing this, those without a recognized Covid vaccine certificate/passport shall need to quarantine at their own expense.”

        NB the only vaccine certificates currently recognised by the Maltese government are the ones they themselves issue. NHS ones (or from any other country) are not acceptable (for now).

        I have contacted the Dpt of Information requesting clarification, including around age and PCR. I also asked re paper documentation as many of us in Scotland only have that. In addition, I have asked a local gvt lawyer if they are able to advise as DOI is closed until Monday. I will post anything I get immediately.

    Pay with Amex and use MR statement credit? Poor value though. Much better off using one of the many LNER card offers to be honest.
