News in brief:

Get VIP hospitality to England v Pakistan with Hilton

Hilton Honors is auctioning two VIP packages for the England v Pakistan IT20 cricket game on Tuesday 20th July. This takes place at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

The packages include, for two people:

  • reserved seating in Stand E
  • access to the balcony viewing area
  • access to the Century Lounge, including a two-course buffet lunch and complimentary beer, house wine and soft drinks

The current bid is 60,000 Hilton Honors points. I would value 60,000 points at around £200 which makes the deal excellent value, although I would expect the auction to push the price higher.

You can bid here.

The reason that Hilton gets access to these packages is because the big red building below overlooking the ground is a Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Save £200 on an easyJet Holiday with American Express

American Express has launched a new cashback offer with easyJet Holidays.

If you are targetted for this offer it will show under the ‘Offers’ tab on your online statement page or in the Amex app. You need to click ‘Save to Card’ to activate.

The deal gets you £200 cashback on a £1,000+ booking with easyJet Holidays. Your payment needs to be processed by 31st August.

The offer is limited to the first 15,000 people to save it to their card. Flights must depart from UK airports, but apart from that there is no onerous small print.

Get €60,000 cashback with American Express …..

If we’re honest, any French holders of American Express cards will be laughing at les rosbifs and their paltry £200 cashback deal with easyJet Holidays.

In France, they like to go big.

This deal is currently available to American Express Platinum cardholders in France:

  • Nick says:

Not a cricket fan myself, but I’m definitely looking forward to the opening of the new Hilton Garden Inn at the Silverstone circuit later this year (latest advice is November), and therefore hopefully increased HH packages for various race series next year, including, of course, the F1 Grand Prix (auction packages available now for this year).

    • Ian says:

I thought Hilton had pulled out?

    • Tariq says:

I looked the other day and the Silverstone track website is now quoting early 2022 for opening.

      • Nick says:

Thanks Tariq. It seems every time I look it’s been pushed back. I think it was only a few weeks ago I noted November, but, as you say, it’s now showing as spring 2022.

        • Tariq says:

Same, was really surprised when I saw it. They had a local contact with a Hilton email address at one point (early last year) and it certainly seemed like it was close to completion/opening.

          • Save East Coast Rewards says:

That person with the Hilton email address is still around or at least was a few weeks ago. I was enquiring if it was still going to be an HGI after it disappeared from the Hilton website

  • TomH says:

Damn, the boat I want is €399,999 – does anyone know what the cheapest thing I can add to my purchase is?

  • Dev says:

Spend those points at your own peril! If it rains (and let’s be honest, cricket and rain go hand in hand with each other in England!), your not gonna get much cricket in a T20 reduced overs or rained off day!

  • IanM says:

Manchester is Covid central right now. Off limits for Scots!

  • Bagoly says:

At that level, one would have thought that Amex would use staff who could format numbers to not break across lines!

    • Andrew says:

They didn’t even spell the company name correctly, it’s Laneva Boats.

  • AJA says:

How long does it take to build a €400k boat? You only have until 15 Dec 2021 to charge it to the Amex card.

  • Andrew says:

If I place an order for the boat, then return it after the statement has been issued. Will Amex notice and claw back the EUR60,000?

  • Allan says:

Do easyJet holidays allow you to pay deposit in increments like BA? If I find a £2k holiday, can I use the offer on 2 cards?
