World of Hyatt confirms a further delay to peak and off-peak pricing

Hyatt has announced a further delay to the introduction of peak and off-peak reward pricing for its World of Hyatt loyalty programme.
Originally slated to be launched in March 2020, it will now come into effect in October 2021 for stays from March 2022.
It will therefore make sense to lock in reward stays for Summer 2022 before October 2021.

That said, the pricing jump for top-end redemptions is not huge. The most expensive Hyatt redemption, currently 30,000 points, will jump to 35,000 points on peak days and drop to 25,000 points on off-peak days. (There is a more expensive Category 8 but this is only for high-end partner hotels.)
Assuming that it sticks to the original plans, you can see Hyatt’s proposed peak and off-peak chart here.
A VERY generous Summer promotion is coming
Hyatt has also announced that its ‘Bonus Journeys’ promotion will return in July.
We will cover this in more detail when registration opens on 7th July. It will run from 20th July to 15th September, and is a very simple one – you will earn triple points on all stays of 2+ nights.
On the face of it, this is very lucrative:
- You earn 5 Hyatt points per $1 spent ….
- …. which is 7.0 points per £1
- Triple points would mean 21 points per £1 ….
- …. which at our valuation of 1.1p per point is a 23% rebate on your ex-VAT spend
For anyone with a ‘get £100 Amex cashback with a £300 spend at Small Luxury Hotels’ offer, or ‘get £100 Amex cashback on £250 spend at Hyatt’ offer, you could do exceptionally well.
You would get 60% back on your spending on a £250 spend when you factor in the Amex cashback and the value of triple points.
You can even double up with the exclusive Hyatt Prive benefits, including guaranteed upgrades and free breakfast, that our hotel partner Bon Vivant can book for you.
We’ll look at this in more detail when registration opens. You might be seeing some more Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels coverage on HfP this Summer ….
There is a Q&A page for the offer already live which you can find here.
