British Airways to codeshare on Loganair’s Teesside to Heathrow flights

Loganair has been quietly building up its Teesside to Heathrow service, which is going up to three flights per day on weekdays from 12th July.
It appears from ba.com that British Airways will codeshare on the route from 1st July.
The main practical benefit is that you will be able to book flights from Teesside to the entire BA route network on a single ticket with both flights having a BA flight number. You will also earn standard Avios and tier points from the Loganair service.

Transfers will not be seamless, unfortunately. The Loganair service is using Terminal 2 at Heathrow, so an intra-terminal transfer will be required.
It isn’t clear what lounge facilities, if any, will be available for British Airways status passengers travelling on Loganair from Terminal 2. The lounge rules for BA codeshare flights have always been very restrictive, often limited to Gold members with no guest allowance.
An extra benefit for Loganair – apart from the money it receives from seats sold by British Airways – is that BA will be incentivised to see the Teesside service succeed. This could mean ensuring that Loganair gets access to Heathrow slots from BA’s portfolio once the owner of its current borrowed slots wants them back.
For clarity, you cannot book Teesside to Heathrow on its own under the BA flight number, to earn Avios and tier points. It can only be booked as part of a connecting service.
