IHG has announced that it is taking over the Hilton Singapore hotel on Orchard Road.
The property is scheduled to join IHG on 1st January 2022, when it will become the first voco hotel in South East Asia.
The change appears to have been driven by the decision of The Mandarin Orchard Singapore to rebrand as the Hilton Singapore Orchard. This will be the largest Hilton property in the Asia Pacific region.

voco is IHG’s new ‘conversion’ brand. We discussed voco and conversion brands here, but in simple terms they allow an existing hotel to join a global group without having to spend heavily to meet a huge list of ‘brand standards’. Whilst this can sound like a bad thing, in reality there is a high level of quality control. The voco hotels we have seen to date (voco St David’s in Cardiff was reviewed here) have been decent.
You can learn more about the voco brand on this page of the IHG website.
