Fly to Hawaii, business class, earning Avios and 640 tier points for £970 return

Some very, very low business class fares to Hawaii – and indeed the United States West Coast – have appeared today from Paris.

This is a very quick article so you will have to do a bit of digging yourself if you want to take advantage (I am on holiday, in theory), but here is an example from Paris to Honolulu for January 2022.

EDIT: As at 10.30pm, the deal appears to be almost dead, at least to Hawaii. It seems that it will work if you can get ba.com to show a routing via Helsinki, eg Paris – Helsinki – USA.

Here is an example from ba.com, where you can book this deal even if it doesn’t have a British Airways flight anywhere:

This is €1,131, so £970. Can’t say fairer than that ….

In terms of tier points, it would earn:

CDG-LHR – 40 tier points
LHR-LAX – 140 tier points
HNL-LAX – 140 tier points
LAX-SEA – 140 tier points
SEA-LHR – 140 tier points
LHR-CDG – 40 tier points

That’s a total of 640 tier points for £970, plus a holiday in Hawaii.

The ‘dream deal’ would be finding a way to book it as Paris – London – New York – West Coast – Hawaii. This would earn 920 tier points because you would have three business class flights of 2,000+ miles in each direction.

Check carefully that ALL flights book into Business Class.

I had a look at the detailed fare rules filed. It appears effective date is EF-04JUN21 so the fare *may* come back at midnight.

I added a car to my booking thinking it would turn it into a holiday, but I don’t think it quite worked – to amend my car will the UK call centre deal with this or will I have to call France?

Also, I’m sorry to say I didn’t read the fare rules – of course I know these are non-refundable but are they covered by BWC?

  You will need to call France if it has gone through as a holiday. They open at 8:30 U.K. time and I’ve managed to get through instantly every time and they are really helpful. The number is 0033157324975

If possible you should try to get out of Honolulu and across to another island such as Maui or Big Island.

Honolulu is simply a US city in a tropical setting with an overabundance of designer shops and significant homelessness. In truth, it reminded me of a Marbella in a Benidorm setting and a tent city on the beach.

Also, steer clear of the Waikiki Beach Marriott. Wrong end of the beach and incredibly dated

        Very much got an appreciation for how time consuming it is to update half decent content daily online, so full credit to rob for this site continuing to thrive,
        
        Ref TP runs, I look back on those trips now with very fond memories. Took me to places I wouldn’t necessarily have been to and travelling alone is probably something I’d never have thought about but thoroughly enjoyed it.
        
        Such trips may well be frowned upon in the future, you can imagine if the press run negative stories about Flyertalk itineraries airlines might act to pull multi segment fares in the coming years.

    UK based. Starting the journey in CDG so will have to book a cheap LHR-CDG-LHR in addition. Considering making the most of it and spending a day/night in Paris.

Nabbed one of these last night – booked for March. Very happy having turned on my twitter notifications for any HfP tweets since missing out on the Qatar deal (£600?) to Japan a few years back.

I think the Hawaii routes have now gone but most west coast / ANC deals can still be had.
