That’s all we can say for now.

However, I strongly recommend coming back at 9.30am for a major announcement. It is, genuinely, big news and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed. It is also a permanent improvement to your life, not a promotion.

If you are reading this by email, we will send it shortly after 9.30am but you can see it sooner by visiting the site.

You may want to clear a bit of time in your diary after 9.30am to respond to the news.

The removal of day light savings in the UK?

9.30am today will revert to 08:30 GMT?

  • BJ says:

    Since when was anything permanent?

Only thing I can think of that would be genuinely good is abolishing all BA imposed surcharges and/or sector by sector award pricing without increasing avios required (permanently).

Or they could stop elites flying Y from using the lounge… oh boy, wouldn’t that be fab 🙂

Please delete all these pages of speculation at 09:29.

+1 Nothing in life is permanent.

    • Cat says:

Some of the more daft speculation is quite entertaining BJ!

      • BJ says:

Hey @Cat, where you been? Hope you’re doing OK? I added my tuppence worth of nonsense later.

        • Cat says:

It’s rather dull, but I’ve mostly been in my classroom, setting, checking, marking, moderating and remarking exams for free. I have one of the worst exam class loadings of all the teachers in my school (more students sitting GCSE and A-Level exams than I’ve had over the previous 4 years, annoyingly). It’s been hellish, TBH.

Marked, moderated and remarked the last ones yesterday, TF.

How have you been? How has lockdown life been for you? X

        • BJ says:

Hope you have some hiking and fresh air scheduled to clear the senses and have a good vacation. A bit dull here too, just made the best of lockdown best we could whilst respecting the restrictions. Took the opportunity to tidy up some financial loose ends for us and my family. Planned for a 17 day road trip in September taking us as far as Newquay. Heading for the hills for a week in October and again in November. Hopefully Thailand in December, if not then Japan and Thailand in March/ April.

          • Cat says:

Bizarrely my plans for the summer involve Newquay too! Obviously my plans for 6 weeks in the Seychelles have gone down the toilet now, so I’m continuing my hike along the South West Coastal Path. I got as far as Torquay last summer, so the plan for this summer is Torquay to Newquay, where I plan to spend a few days attempting to surf (read: repeatedly falling off my board and completely missing the wave) before the new school year starts!

Which hills will you be heading for? Japan and Thailand sounds like a fantastic combination – whereabouts were you thinking?

Hopefully in April next year I should be heading to the Maldives with a good friend from University (she’s going through a particularly unpleasant divorce at the moment, and has always wanted to go there – I just had the Hilton points just sitting around, so I’m going to treat her!).

Hopefully next summer I’ll be heading to either the Seychelles, Indonesia or the Philippines….

Love the speculation tho, good you are back on chat too, Cat. Ready for a rest. BJ only teasing really….
Nabbed J 241 to HKG for February, must be mad. No F available any day. Probably Q suites so don’t mind. And CX J straight down to HKT. All seats to and from HKT now pulled from CX. Think they weren’t expect such an onslaught of bookings. Fully expect not to go, but fun dreaming…

        • Cat says:

Well and truly ready for a rest!

Good job on the tickets to HKT! I’m very much daydreaming of the day we can lounge around in lounges again, ploughing our way through the wine menu while waiting for our flights to glorious tropical beaches! X

    • Lady London says:

@BJ you seem so nice why do you have this thing about Y passengers not getting their bit of luxury. On BA most of them will have earned it flying whereas American airline lounges are stuffed with credit card holders who haven:t put the miles in flying.

      • BJ says:

@Lady London, I have no objection to people getting their bit of luxury. I just don’t want mine compromised by BA failings. I have suggested what I think is the solution in BA Holidays article. If BA can have more lounges or bigger lounges the more the merrier. If they cannot I think they need to do something else about the crowding and only viable is reducing access. I appreciate problem is greater at some airports and at some times too. It is all that they need to manage. What is the point of a lounge if it is no better than the concourse? Maybe I am spoiled by the old days when lounges were very pleasant, a haven. Jt’s only in the last 15 years or so it has vecome a problem.

Dynamic, revenue based pricing for Avios seats.

  • Dubious says:

Are we moving to 4 articles a day instead of 3??

  • Andrew Wells says:

Ah, big call to say we won’t be disappointed, but I shall remain open minded until 9:30!

    • Andrew Lee says:

It’s the internet. There’s always someone disappointed.

Boris Johnson has done the one thing possible to unite all 7 billion people in the world and sacked Matt Hancock?

  • BJ says:

Bishop has bought BA, he’s rebranding it BMI2, moving out of London, reinstating Diamond Club and the dear old crew at Pune.
