News: triple Nectar points at Argos, £100 off Virgin Caribbean holidays, BA’s Southampton launch

Collect triple Avios via Nectar at Argos this weekend

To encourage some Bank Holiday shopping, Argos is offering triple Nectar points (= triple Avios) on all purchases until Tuesday 1st June.

The standard Nectar earn rate at Argos is 1 Nectar point per £1, which is equivalent to 0.625 Avios per £1 when converted.

Until Tuesday, you will earn 3 Nectar points per £1, so 1.875 Avios.

Full details are on this page of the Argos website. It also explains how to link your Nectar card to your Argos account. There don’t appear to be any categories of products which are excluded.

Save £100 on a Virgin Holidays package to the Caribbean

Virgin Holidays has launched a new offer today which runs until Tuesday 1st June.

You can save £100 when you book a Caribbean holiday for travel up to 31st March 2022.

The definition of the Caribbean covers holidays in Barbados, Antigua, Cuba, Jamaica, Tobago, Grenada, St Vincent & The Grenadines.

The advance terms we were sent do not mention any minimum spend or minimum stay requirements but double check what has appeared on the Virgin Holidays website this morning. The offer can’t be combined with ‘part pay with Virgin Points‘.

British Airways flights from Southampton to start this weekend

After a series of delays due to ungoing uncertainty over Green and Amber List classifications and quarantine requirements, British Airways is starting its services from Southampton Airport this weekend.

Over the next few weeks, although this is clearly subject to substantial change, flights are due to start to Alicante, Berlin, Bergerac, Edinburgh, Faro, Florence, Ibiza, Limoges, Malaga, Mykonos, Nice and Palma.

Faro appears to be the only service on the first day, with a flight departing at 15.10.

Southampton was, as the picture above shows, a major Flybe base before the airline collapsed last year. The services will be a welcome respite for the airport which lost virtually all of its scheduled services.

The BA flights will use Embraer aircraft which serve London City Airport during the week but have nothing to do when City is closed over the weekend.
