Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Has anyone managed to get AMEX CS via chat to add offers on a new card, which still doesn’t have offers available? I have a number of offers on another AMEX, which I would like to use on a newly-issued card to hit spend targets. AMEX CS was happy to add Shop Small to the new card but refused to budge on any other offer as “those depends on spend and will awake in 4-6 weeks”. It wasn’t a matter of the offers having hit their max subscription.

  Have you used the new card? They will arrive soonest if you start using card widely. Amex will add anything you receive an email for on a specific card but generally nithing else except offers open to all.

    +1. I had the Sainsburys offer manually added after I uploaded screenshots of the email. Poor IT offering from Amex UK, really. Whenever I open a Amex US card all the offers are there instantly.

Not sure if this is already known, but the referral offer on my Platinum Amex right now gives the other person 70,000 MR points. That seems unusually high, right?

Not sure if that’s universal but worth checking if you’re thinking of referring someone.

Re the Amex £100 back on £350 spend offer at IC/Kimpton etc, I am assuming bookings made via Emyr will trigger this? Ts & Cs say visit IHG.com to book but doesn’t specify bookings must be made via the website. Presumably when the card is charged by the hotel, it won’t show who the booking was made through? I have a stay next week which is going to come to just over £700 so hoping to use 2 of the offers on our cards!

        Went there for a conference 20 years ago and remember it as a fascinating location (ie an island) and with a monster slug of Malaysian cash behind it, it looks pretty good – and under an hour from my house. Bray is obviously lovely as well. Hotel itself, to be fair, looks more ‘restaurant with rooms’, not even a pool.
