If you are looking to stock up on champagne, an interesting offer was flagged up in the comments section yesterday by babyg.

Many American Express cards currently feature a new offer from wine merchant Laithwaites. Their home page is here.

You will receive 30% cashback when you spend £120+ online by 7th July.

If you see this offer on the online statement page for any of your cards, or in the Amex app, remember to click ‘Save to Card’ to activate it.

Bollinger special offer

Opinion varies about the quality of the wine sold by Laithwaites, which is virtually all under ‘house’ labels. This makes it difficult to compare pricing. However, it does stock a range of branded champagnes, beers and spiritsMany of these are already reduced before factoring in the Amex cashback.

Here is the champagne home page. The two to note are:

  • Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut – down from £46.99 to £36.99
  • Champagne Bollinger Rose Brut – down from £51.99 to £39.99

Order four bottles to get above the £120 threshold for the cashback and you are paying just £25.89 for the Bollinger Special Cuvée and £27.99 for the Bollinger Rose.

Three bottles of the Rose would also get you across £120 for the 30% cashback once the £7.99 delivery fee is added.

Many other brands are also reduced if you buy a case. 12 bottles of Champagne Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut are reduced to £588 which the 30% cashback takes down to £412. This is under £35 per bottle which is exceptionally cheap for this brand.

Time to stock up for that Summer barbeque ……

The Laithwaites home page here and the champagne page is here. Don’t forget to save the Amex cashback offer before ordering. The Amex cashback deal requires your card to be charged by 7th July.

I found the laithwaites 30% offer on up to £1k spend on my Platinum card and rummaged through and purchased some excellent value English Sparkling and received the 30% credit within a day or so of the TX. I then spotted the same deal with The BAwineflyer (Laithwaites under another name) on both my BAAmex premium card and also on my wife’s BAAmex so tried again and purchased some Laurent Perrier NV Champagne which was on offer at 28.99 which is a pretty decent price anyway and then got the 30% saving on that so net cost just over £20 a bottle which is a great deal IMHO. If you need to stock up on some fizz for the summer this is an excellent deal and potentially if you have three Amex card you could save 30% on up to £3k spend so net £2.1k cost. You must however make the up to £1k purchases separately on the various cards where you have the offer and you cannot aggregate over a number of purchases so need to go for broke and spend as much of the offer as you can afford in each order

  • NickS says:

Yes the £1000 is the spend per card. Not sure what happens if you go over £1k though as kept all my purchases just below. Maybe the capped discount is £300 max? Once you login to the bawineflyer you go straight to the normal Laithwaites list. Fizz is the easiest option as mainly branded products where it is easy to see value deals but they have a surprisingly large selection of fine wines listed as well so worth a rummage through these. Just do separate orders for each card where you have the offer and don’t forget to save offer first on each card. The discount seems to be triggered by the card rather than the card members name
