We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    Any way of getting the curve app to stop spamming my phone with notifications about investing in curve.
    Love curve as a user, zero interest in investing.

    There was a 5k IHG points offer for staying 1 night (by the end of May, I think), which we discussed on here a couple of weeks back.

    It now seems to have gone from the app and website and it wasn’t awarded after either of my two recent stays. Emailing IHG, they profess no knowledge of this offer.

    Am I going crazy or do others remember it too? Don’t suppose anyone has a screenshot?

      I did have it, but now (like you) it’s gone.

      On the plus side, in the last 24 hours I seem to have gained another random UK Credit Card free night, which definitely wasn’t yet due from hitting the card spend target. So I’ll be moving along quietly…

      I took a screenshot of it incase they removed it, on the Home Screen of my account. It states 5k for 1 night until 29 July.

        Had it too, but then it disappeared just before I completed a stay last week with no sign of the 5k bonus. Going to contact them.

        I also had 5K offer for a one night IHG stay before end of July. It has disappeared. I have booked a night in June and would appreciate the points. Please can you share the screenshot? Thank you.

      I had this too. Sent screenshots to IHG after staying 1 night. They claim that I had not registered for the offer even though it was appearing in several places on the app as just “book now”.

        Registration was clearly not required as it appeared only on several places on the App (as you quite rightly say).In my opinion IHG should honour it as a gesture of goodwill, otherwise it is very misleading.

    Any CZ/SK residents? Is Fio Banka any good? They support many currencies, a bit like Revolut but hopefully not as dodgy. How’s the rates when changing between the currencies in practice?

      I used to live in CZ and still have a bank and brokerage account with fio. It is a normal bank, with physical branches throughout the country, so not dodgy. Multi currency accounts are normal in CZ (at least CZK/EUR, usually USD, RUB as well). I always found changing between currencies to be quite expensive, but have not done it for some years. If I wanted to change for example CZK to EUR, I always found I got a better rate if I withdrew CZK from an ATM, took it to one of the dodgy exchange bureaus off Wenceslas square, and deposited EUR back into the bank.

    I can’t seem to find the thread about people who qualified for IHG spire last year getting an additional 25k points. A few people on that thread mentioned they will shortly re qualify for Spire and I wanted to ask if they got the 25k again? I just requalified today so far can’t see the 25k bonus, but maybe it takes time? I normally don’t look for it till ages later…

    Hi,

    Re Curve Rental Car Collision Waiver; I caused some scuff marks while reversing towards a wall and now want to claim from Axa as I have Curve Metal. But I just realised that I had booked and paid for the rental car online using Curve but I didn’t have my Curve with me when collecting the car and because of that I have the Amex card on the invoice.

    What are my chances of making a successful claim? The estimated amount for damages is over £400 which sounds a bit high for a few scratches, so if it comes out of my pocket I can try negotiating. Damages haven’t charged to my account yet, so I can get that charged to Curve as well. Many thanks

        Looking at the invoice, online booking and payment is mentioned as a voucher, which is charged to Curve, and is more than 95% of the total cost. Total amount is less than £10 more, that is charged to Amex Gold on the invoice.

    Virgin have added another 3 months to gold and silver memberships – this includes those who had been upgraded on the BA status match. Mine now showing end of August 22. Now we just need BA to do the same for the 6 months of people who weren’t extended and are due to expire early 22.

      I held off a few weeks before doing the status match and so mine’s showing extended status to 30 September 2022. Hats off to the team at Virgin 🥳

    Have a cancelled BA flight to SEZ for this weekend. CS is saying I need to decide what I want to do with my flight before original departure date (i.e. refund or voucher). However, it was booked in the 50% sale so ideally would prefer to keep the booking in park mode and hope BA fly to SEZ again in the future. I thought this was possible to keep things ‘parked’ (probably wrong terminology). Is it a case of HUACA?

        If I do nothing and keep booking in cancelled mode beyond departure date, x months down the line, do I still have a right to be rerouted? Or should I push to get rerouted now for a future date with QR? Risk is plan falls foul to covid again and lose flexibility if flight still goes ahead

          I’d just call them that and ask them to make a note that you will be exercising your re-route rights at a later date once you have more information about when you can take annual leave, etc. You will probably have to fight it at MCOL anyway.
