The HfP chat thread – Monday 17th May

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

With Spire Elite I got the Hertz Gold Plus 5 Star membership for an upcoming car hire. It used to say on Hertz site that you get a free additional driver with this status but I can no longer find it – has anyone else noticed it has disappeared? Thanks

Another question from me… if CW seat formation is 2 3 2 is that going to be new Club Suite?? Flying Heathrow to Tokyo.

    • Tom1 says:

      No – 1-2-1 club suite.
I think 2-3-2 is the old club world seats on a 787. BA Source website is good to check. Think there are seating guides on here too.
Others will also point out that changes in planes is highly likely/possible at the moment and for the foreseeable as airlines work out exactly what equipment they need for each route.

      • Andrew says:

Yes 2-3-2 is the old CW with the middle seat of the 3 being the isolation booth.

Deliveroo on gold card, can confirm that Deliveroo plus does qualify for £5 cash back. Not just the £3.49 fee it’s full £5
    12 May DELIVEROO -£5.00
12 May DELIVEROO PLUS – UK LONDON £3.49

    • TheInsiderFly says:

So you’re being paid to subscribe?

      • Rob says:

Deliveroo+ shows at £11.49 for me!

        • 747_Brat says:

@Rob: There are 2 versions of Deliveroo Plus. The one you mentioned has a min. order value of £10 for free delivery. The one @Lee mentioned has a min. order value of £25 for free delivery.

You can choose a plan that suits your needs here:
          https://deliveroo.co.uk/plus

          • Rob says:

Ah …. interesting. It slides! If I swipe right on the £11.49 box in the app it pulls in a £3.49 box. I don’t see it otherwise.

7 day free trial so if I sign up now it will still take £3.49 in May when I don’t expect to use any other credits ….

      • Tom1 says:

Unless this was the second monthly fee, and it’s accumulative? Not sure when it started, or whether anything under £5 would roll over anyway.

      • Lee says:

        Yes, quite surprised

  • 747_Brat says:

I was on an annual Curve Metal subscription, which is coming to an end soon. Just wondering if the Curve Metal subscription is renewed automatically, or do I need to purchase it again?

  • Helen says:

I have a reservation at the Crowne Plaza London City for 17 – 19 July but now all dates in July/August are showing as not available. Should I be concerned?

    • Rob says:

Yes. It is apparently shut until 1st September. Decision has only been taken in the last couple of days, as the rumour goes.

      • Helen says:

What will happen with my reservation (points)? Will they transfer my booking or is it i’ll need to rebook somewhere else at a higher rate?

        • Kai says:

You’ll be moved to the Kimpton as someone suggested in the thread.

  • Helen says:

Sorry, i’ve searched but I couldn’t find anything, could someone post a link please
