Important dates for your diary – offers about to close which you shouldn’t miss

In the hope, if not the expectation, that we will see a return to some international travel during May and June, we have revived this ‘last chance’ feature. It ran every two weeks for a number of years until we suspended it last March.

The aim of this feature is to summarise offers that are ending soon. Years of experience of running offers for HfP readers has made it very clear that a large proportion like to leave things to the last minute ….

It pulls together the different deals mentioned in our daily articles and on our Top Avios Points Earning Offers, Top Hotel Bonus Points Offers and Top UK Credit Card Offers pages.

The list is still a little thin, but we are hoping for a surge in activity post 17th May. There may be a few things we’ve missed as we rebuild this feature – please let us know in the comments.

Hotel promotions

Here are registration links for the current hotel promotions from the major chains:

Hilton Honors – double or triple points on stays between 3rd May and 6th September – register here

IHG Rewards – earn double base points on your 2nd stay after registration and 3x base points on third and subsequent stays after registration. Offer runs between 15th May and 16th August. Register here.

World of Hyatt – earn 2,500 bonus points for every two nights you stay until 15th June. Nights do not need to be consecutive and you receive an additional free night voucher after 10 nights. Details are here but registration is now closed.

Marriott, Accor and Radisson are not currently running global promotions.

Last day to book in the Melia Hotel Summer sale (stay by 31st December)

Last day to book in the Best Western UK 3-4-2 sale (stay by 31st December)

Last day to book in the Radisson Hotels sale (stay by 20th June)

Monday 17th May

Restrictions on staying in hotels in England are lifted (restrictions are already lifted in Scotland and Wales)

Overseas leisure travel to resume to Green List countries

IHG due to launch a UK and Europe hotel flash sale (we have no details yet)

Last day for the Singapore Airlines business class redemption sale for flights from London

Thursday 20th May

Last day to get 29,900 points (=29,900 Avios) as a sign-up bonus with the Capital on Tap Business Rewards Visa credit card – a HfP exclusive offer!

Still a bit confused. You say 17 may is “ Overseas leisure travel to resume to Green List countries”. Is it not quarantine free overseas leisure travel. My understanding was that leisure travel to amber countries was not prohibited but you had to quarantine on return.

  Nearly everything is the same price at Harrods as elsewhere – but of course all the brands are high end. Apple Shop at Harrods is a good option if you’re in the market for anything. Good wine shop too. And then brands that never discount like Louis Vuitton participate in this offer, giving you a rare reduction in their prices.

My wife and I have 4 cards between us, and none of them have the Amex Express Travel offer showing. It says the first 30,000 people to load it on their cards, so it is possible it may have reached this number already.
This is just a thought, but could it be that a lot of people just add offers to their card even though they have no intention of using them – “just in case”?
That would mean a lot of people who really want to use the offer can’t.
Do we here on HFP encourage people to load their cards with offers a bit too much?
Could there be an occasional caveat when there are limited numbers who can apply to request people NOT to load it unless there is a reasonable chance they would use the offer?
Just a thought, but I would appreciate anyone else’s view on this.

  I know some people on here save every offer to make it easier to see when new ones pop up – it would be good if Amex could add a dismiss function so I don’t need to play needle in a haystack every morning amongst the Sweaty Betty and random e-commerce startups listed looking for something useful. But I totally agree people should only save offers they think they will use – but with the Amex travel offer it does seem like the kind of one you save on the off chance as you’d regret it if you didn’t and then wanted to book a flight – but ones like the Radisson I haven’t saved as I know I would use the Hilton one instead.

    It would also be good to have a way of unsaving an offer. More than once I have found that I saved the wrong offer, typically something for which I would never have any use at all.

  It is a problem. I was talking about this with an airline that did an Amex offer. People save it ‘just in case’ but never use it, and if someone later wants to book they can’t see the offer any longer.
  
  No easy answer because the airline needs to cap its liability.
