      Shows up ok for me on some routes but it is all ‘Waitlist’ – nothing confirmed which makes things a bit tricky, as persumably whilst it might be easier to cancellation the booking, there would be no obligation on SIA to reroute you if they adjusted the schedule before the Waitlist cleared.

        Per the T&C they won’t reroute you anyway (even on their own flights!) so book carefully as their schedule for later this year is fictional- worth checking what is currently operating and trying to book the same flight combos. Though in reality I think they would rebook you & outbound you’ve got Eu261 protections .

        I’d love to book for Phuket but I just can’t bring myself to gamble so many miles on a non refundable ticket with the world still uncertain currently . Though they have added a clause this time so you could get a refund if govt restrictions don’t allow you on the flight so that’s some protection

          Thailand is still pretty shut: just checked their websites, official and Thai Air.

          To obtain COE, you need confirmed flight bookings upfront (whichever bureaucrat came up with that) and Covid-proof health insurance. With vaccinations, you still need to spend 7 days quarantine at a state-approved facility.

          I wouldn’t be booking Bangkok, KL or Jakarta for tourist reasons this year and as Rob says it’s a long way around to Male.

          Phuket however I’d be pretty confident on towards the later part of the year (i.e. Nov or Dec) – they’re currently still aiming for July to allow vaccinated tourists onto the island without quarantine – they’ve even scheduled weekly direct Thai Airways flights from Heathrow now and 100,000s of doses of vaccine are being distributed there currently. Even allowing for the timing to slip a little there is huge pressure to get the tourists coming in time for peak season from November, to miss a second year would be devastating economically.

    Doesn’t impact transit though at this point (and they’ve now closed the airport mall to the public) however as it stands most transit passengers (Inc the UK and all of these destinations) can’t access any facilities or the lounge, you are held in a gate area. You can order some limited food items.

    @ Louie the T&C are right at the bottom of the page – non refundable, no amendments. They will refund you if they cancel or you can’t board due to government restrictions.

    If you waitlist you’ll need to clear and be ticketed before the end of the promo

      you can go to the helpdesk in Changi on arrival and inform them you wont be taking the connection flight as you’ve had a text which changes your plans.

      Not sure about immigration though at Changi, that could be tricky probably a same day ferry ticket to Batam would let you through. Changi immigration have technology to track your movements off the island.

        But the rest of your ticket (i.e.your flight home) would still be cancelled at that point (as these have to be booked as return tickets)

        Anyway it’s almost certainly academic for the timing of this promotion – Singapore isn’t even letting in existing or new work pass/visa holders from UK or most of the world currently let alone short term visitors and that is unlikely to change for the foreseeable future.

          That’s why you would go to the KrisFlyer help desk – to stop the return flight being cancelled and informing them you can’t make your connecting flight.

          I’ve done this about half a dozen times in SE Asia. A gamble maybe but it’s always worked being upfront with the airline rather than sneaking out the terminal and missing your unwanted connection.

          Sam, I’ve just had a look at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoint cameras, and you’re right it does look very quiet.
