We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

It’s great. Dawn chorus. No nosey neighbours.

    2 miles exercise.

Some people up the road seem to have a wee zoo – alpacas & goats.

Spain gradually becoming more warm and fuzzy wrt to UK travellers. Potentially allowing entry from next week, 20 May. In parallel, the EU may take UK off the “unsafe” list tomorrow. Lets see….

    Hi all
I need to ask what is an absolutely idiotic question – I begin this by saying I am new to this and never used 241 voucher before and really worried I will eff it up. This worry is causing my IQ to plummet.
Reward flights are released 255 days in advance… so does that mean flights are released tonight for 2 May 2022.
    Many thanks

Easy to see how it goes … look a route which won’t be booked immediately, eg Amsterdam, and see how far out you can book today. At 1am it jumps forward a day.

    • Genghis says:

355 days out. As Rob says, have a look at some routes to get the current available date. Next date then becomes available at 12am GMT / 1am BST.

      • Zoe says:

See I even meant 355 but typed 255. Duh!

        Thanks for answering guys.

Radisson Rewards Q; Has Radisson rewards protected our points over the covid period or are they still expiring after 24 months? Thanks.

    Hey All,

After getting my original 50% avios + BA 241 flight cancelled and rebooking onto a new flight, I’ve just received the cancellation email about my rebooked flight departing in 2 weeks.

Does anyone know what the policy is now? I won’t be able to travel before the original October deadline, and would only want to rebook for same time next year.

    Thanks

    • Alex says:

I’m also curious about this, what happens when your flight is cancelled after the 12months from original date is already passed.

      • J says:

I had a flight cancelled multiple times – originally booked in Feb 20 (with BA, Avios + 241) for travel in Aug 20. Cancelled by BA, rebooked for June 21 (so outside original ticket validity). Then on Dec 20 that was cancelled when BA pulled the route and (eventually – it took a LOT of insistence) was re-booked for same day on partner airline. That subsequently got cancelled several times to the point that the trip no longer made sense. I wanted to push it back to next year, but BA refused, saying it was outside the original ticket validity… 🤦‍♂️ I tried arguing for a while but ended up reluctantly accepting a Future Travel Voucher. My understanding is that BA’s obligations under EU261 still persist even after they’ve rebooked you onto another airline (because they’re the original operating carrier, and you can’t talk directly to the replacement carrier – they’ll just refer you back to BA as if they were a booking agent), but it may be a bit of a grey area and I’m not sure how much that has ever been tested, legally. We know they can issue a new ticket if the original validity has expired, but they point blank refuse to do so. I wouldn’t be surprised if one day they find themselves on the receiving end of a class action lawsuit, or government investigation or some such, over that, as their refusal to honour passenger rights / comply with the law is appalling, and I can well imagine there must be a lot of people left out of pocket, and certainly inconvenienced, by BA’s behaviour.
