New American Express and Hilton £50 cashback offer launched

American Express has launched a new cashback deal with Hilton, covering selected European hotels.

If you are targetted, you will see the deal on the ‘Offers’ page of one or more of your Amex cards on the app or website. Don’t waste your time checking your Marriott Amex however ….

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £200 on your card with Hilton by 31st August.

Whilst not mentioned in the rules, cumulative spend has counted historically. The PDF of participating hotels is here.

Annoyingly, none of the ‘Green List’ hotels in Portugal, Iceland or the Faroe Islands (yes, there is one) are taking part. There are a huge number of UK hotels listed, and hopefully France, Spain etc will move to the Green List soon.

Don’t forget to register for Hilton’s new promotion. Hilton has an Summer offer called ‘More Nights More Points’.  You can register here.  Our full article is here.

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay of 1-2 nights between now and 6th September.  Stay 3+ nights and you will receive TRIPLE base points.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.  38 points per $1, which is what a Gold member would receive for a 3-night stay, is a 17.5% rebate on your ex-VAT spending. Throw in the Amex cashback and you are doing very nicely indeed.

And Corinthia London ……

There is also an Amex deal available for the Corinthia London hotel. You will receive £100 back on a £300 spend by 31st July.

This is a genuinely lovely hotel, probably the finest to open in London in the last 20 years. I had a tour of Corinthia London a few years ago and I’ve been back since for the annual Business Travel Journalism Awards. The restaurant is run by Tom Kerridge which is a good enough reason in itself to stay.

If you are looking for a luxury London break then this is an offer worth looking at. The Corinthia London website is here.

Last day to get a 100% bonus buying Hilton Honors points

Talking of Hilton, today (11th) is the last day for Hilton’s offer of a 100% bonus when you purchase 15,000+ points.

The Hilton ‘buy points’ page is here

What makes this offer different to the last one is that the annual purchase limit has been increased for many people. If targetted you can now buy 160,000 points, which would double up to 320,000 points with the bonus

320,000 points is what you need to book a 5-night stay at an 80,000 points per night luxury hotel, given the ‘5 for 4’ deal given to all elite Hilton Honors members.

This is the deal I used to book 5 nights at the Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah Dubai over Christmas, saving over 60% on the cash price. I wrote about how I did that in this article.

The page to buy points is here if you are interested. The offer ends on Tuesday night.
