  Hi Question about flying from Heathrow to Edinburgh – as it would be a domestic flight i assume there’s no test requirements and you are allowed to make the journey – probably stupid question i know but cant find anything online

  What has happened is that the Amex website page displaying this benefit no longer shows an expiry date. If you search our old article on this, the link is there. I will do an update article when we get a slot but its not high priority at the moment for obvious reasons.

    I checked the Amex link in your article and it still states “through April 30, 2021” – I imagine they will change once it’s confirmed and people start travelling again.

  Finally got through to BA today so if you are trying to call keep trying. Rebooked using my FTV for October to the US.

  My return First avios flights to Dubai in June have been cancelled (all BA flights to Dubai cancelled for June).
  Read on here constantly that a rebooked flight not requiring avios must be within one year from original flight booking.
  Has anyone challenged this with CEDR or MCOL?
  These flights were booked in October 20. I now have First flights booked for July / September/ November and March 22 and thus not reasonable to book another during that period.

    Someone asks this every day. It all hinges on how you interpret the EC261 legislation and guidance, and what you consider reasonable. I personally wouldn’t waste my time and money suing BA for slightly inconveniencing my holiday plans during a global pandemic. But only you know what matters to you and how much your time is worth.

      It is not how I interpret reasonable – it is how the body I go to interprets it.
      I have seen many people suggest this course of action.
      I am trying to find out has anyone challenged this via a legal process and succeeded.

        I think I recall seeing people come back a few times saying after HUACA or discussion it was given and I think one or two of those reporting had got as far as mcol/cedr. See my other reply though. i think if you ask nicely, explain your situation, you have an excellent chance..

        I suspect BA may already know you could be having this conversation with them about your July flight too.

    What do you actually want?

    you could leave it to a week (or a bit less) after cancellation made official. Then try to move it yourself as far as you need online yourself in Manage My Booking. Quite a few reports of this succeeding as by this point it’s now marked im system as irropped. So at least BA’s system knows the ticketing governing body IATA is happy to reroute you on a date outside the initial validity of the ticket even if BA’s agents have for some unknown reason not been trained in this.

    If changing it yourself doesn’t work then talk to BA, explain about your other bookings and ask for what you would like and see if they can do it.

    If for some reason you get an agent that thinks they cant do it why not see if they’ll move one of your existing flights forward instead (free of charge) and move the cancelled flight to when that one was.

    If you get nowhere HUACA twice in standard weekday hours, ideally, say, 8.30am or near, or a bit after 19.00 perhaps.

    Personally I’d be willing to take it to CEDR or MCOL because what you’re asking for in your situation seems reasonable. My gut feeling is you won’t have to go that far.

    Never forget it’s perfectly easy for an airline to issue a new ticket if they want to.

  Stupid question of the day, apologies. And I know I should know this…. but a friend of mine has just asked (assuming I would…) and unfortunately never having done this I don’t. Not for certain anyway.

  They want to make a payment to a friend via Paypal. There’s an option to pay via Amex. I assume Amex treat this as a cash advance – so not a good idea…

  I’d guess credit cards generally do the same (if there are some that don’t I’m not asking for anyone to give their secret away…).

  Debit cards I assume are fine. So revolutionaries a clear option (except they don’t have that card.!). What about bendy? Variable results?

    Amex don’t treat it as a cash advance but tread carefully. PayPal notoriously jumpy about stuff like this and it may attract unwanted attention from Amex if repeated. How much money are we talking?

        Swiss Jim my thinking is PayPal payment “for buying” something is unlikely to be picked up automatically using Amex
        I Would only do “myself” once a year and under £1k although £1.4k once
        charge would be under £40
        As Harry says Paypal is jumpy so wouldn’t make it a regular transfer
        You can of course transfer money to a friend for free, but the above route is safer, also easier to explain if asked ( I Bought the furniture honest )

      Amex do receive info on the payment that makes it clear it was a transfer not a purchase, that is obvious from the fact it didn’t trigger the Amex c@shb@ck offer earlier in the year. So consider this if you’re planning to make a habit of transfering large amounts, and as already said PayPal are pretty hot on it as well.

    Swiss Jim – lots of people say that Amex and/or PayPal will be unhappy if you do that.
    I’ve yet to see any actual examples of where people got into trouble.

    However, I’ve had no problems doing this and do so now and again, including very low 4 digits. Friends & family option.

  Anyone with a blue light card, there are some much increased discounts available on some of the summer staycation cruises. P&O and Cunard are offering up to 45% discount, and Princess up to 25%. These seem to be genuine savings, someone on another forum I’m on has managed to get their already booked cruises re-priced with these discounts. The 7 night bank holiday cruise with P&O on Britannia is coming out at £349pp in a balcony cabin with the discount.
