InterContinental Davos to rebrand as AlpenGold Davos

The InterContinental Davos is being rebranded as AlpenGold Davos.
Hilton isn’t the only chain facing this. InterContinental Davos has announced that it will be leaving IHG at the end of May.

I regret never trying this, because I’ve never been to that area and the hotel – see image above – looks very interesting. The hotel has had financial problems since it opened and I believe it is now under new ownership. It will be branded as AlpenGold Davos when it re-opens.
Reader Jonny also dropped me a note about a number of Crowne Plaza losses in Israel. The following Crowne Plaza hotels:
- Jerusalem
- Haifa
- Eilat
- Dead Sea Ein Bokek
…. have been rebranded as ‘Vert’. Ownership appears unchanged, so this is driven by an unwilingness to invest to keep up with IHG’s brand standards or a belief that the parent is not getting any value from the franchise fee.
One decent IHG gain in recent weeks is in Dubai. The Bonnington hotel is to rebrand as voco Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers Dubai in Q3. The current website is here.
