We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

What’s the score on Iceland (the country not the shop)? Can we get in? Hopefully OK for Scotland too and hopefully direct flights available.

  Only fully vaccinated in plus PCR test on arrival and quarantine in hotel/AirBnB until results (6-12h). That sounds reasonable to me.

Back in Dec, I booked IHG 3x free nights (from my Creation CC) for a stay at Intercontinental Maldives (for end of this month), which unfortunately got to be cancel now (RED list). Grateful if anyone knows (from experience), if the hotel will accommodate or what are the chances on moving our stay to a LATER date (with the FREE nights from my Creation CC).

    One in Aug and one in Oct, third one … is a bit complicated or a one off.
    
    Creation extended one of the night to Aug (due to lockdown) BUT did not cancelled the one due to expire in Dec 2021. Hence, for once we’re allow to booked 3x FREE nights at one go.

Data point. We flew out to Europe to look into buying a couple of apartments for investment – on Wednesday. London airport on cheapie flight £35 each with 20KG checked luggage each. Nobody was interested in our reasons for flying – though we had plenty of evidence in terms of viewings arranged. No PCR test required.

Should be 25C+ in a couple of days.

Grant Shapps does not seem to have said the free NHS lateral flow test will be OK for first test before return to UK after 20th May.
