We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

  Haven’t banked with HSBC for a while, but from feedback on here they are really slow and fairly incompetent when it comes to opening or upgrading accounts.

  For Premier. From initial enquiry to actually having the account around 6 months. They say can’t do on phone, direct you to branch, which has no appointments and gives number to call where cycle is repeated. For me it was formal complaint to get there.

MSN have an article on TUI holiday PCR/testing deals, starting at £20. The testing packages for green/green+/amber/amber+ look well thought out (+ version includes a PCR before you leave the UK for if your destination requires it). As someone who never books package holidays, I’m hoping airlines copy this!

  £60 recently is better than £120, but £20 would definitely be a game-changer. I am assuming TUI are subsidising those from the cost of the package holiday and can’t really see airlines doing that.

  Ah seems I was lucky! In between hitting spend on amex plat last week i got an extra 10k and once the sign up bonus posted I cancelled on Sunday. Did wonder what the 10k was for but i guess it was maybe the error one like you got
