Important dates for your diary – offers about to close which you shouldn’t miss

In the hope, if not the expectation, that we will see a return to some international travel during May, we have decided to revive this ‘last chance’ feature. It ran every two weeks for a number of years until we suspended it last March.

We are also planning to revive the monthly credit card and hotel round-ups as well – keep an eye out for those.

The aim of this feature is to summarise offers that are ending soon. Years of experience of running offers for HfP readers has made it very clear that a large proportion like to leave things to the last minute ….

It pulls together the different deals mentioned in our daily articles and on our Top Avios Points Earning Offers, Top Hotel Bonus Points Offers and Top UK Credit Card Offers pages.

The list is still a little thin, but I am hoping for a surge in activity post 17th May. There may be a few things we’ve missed as we rebuild this feature – please let us know in the comments.

Hotel promotions

Here are registration links for the current hotel promotions from the major chains:

Hilton Honors – double or triple points on stays between 3rd May and 6th September – register here

IHG Rewards – earn double base points on your 2nd stay after registration and 3x base points on third and subsequent stays after registration. Offer runs between 15th May and 16th August. Register here.

World of Hyatt – earn 2,500 bonus points for every two nights you stay until 15th June. Nights do not need to be consecutive and you receive an additional free night voucher after 10 nights. Register here by 15th May

Marriott, Accor and Radisson are not currently running global promotions.

Monday 3rd May

First day for stays to count towards Hilton’s latest ‘More Nights More Points’ promotion

Last day to get a mystery bonus of up to 80% when you buy IHG Rewards points

Last day for quadruple Nectar points (=Avios) with £15+ purchases at eBay

Wednesday 5th May

Last day for the TAP Air Portugal ‘£999 business class to North America’ sale

Tuesday 11th May

Last day to get a 100% bonus when you buy 15,000+ Hilton Honors points

Last day to book in IHG’s Spring sale (stay by 5th September)

Wednesday 12th May

Last day to benefit from the increased ‘refer a friend’ bonuses on personal American Express cards (VERY generous – you can get up to 74,000 points between you from one application)

Saturday 15th May

Last day to register Hyatt’s ‘2,000 bonus points for every two nights’ promotion (stay by 15th June)

First day for stays to count towards the IHG Rewards Summer hotel bonus points promotion

Sunday 16th May

Last day to book in the Melia Hotels Summer sale (stay by 31st December)

Last day to book in the Best Western UK 3-4-2 sale (stay by 31st December)

Last day to book in the Radisson Hotels sale (stay by 20th June)

Monday 17th May

Restrictions on staying in hotels in England are lifted (restrictions are already lifted in Scotland and Wales)

Overseas leisure travel to resume

Thursday 20th May

Last day to get 29,900 points (=29,900 Avios) as a sign-up bonus with the Capital on Tap Business Rewards Visa credit card – a HfP exclusive offer!

Monday 31st May

Last day to receive £50 cashback on a £200 pre-paid booking with American Express Travel

Last day to earn triple Avios at the Bicester Village private sale

I believe that that Hyatt promo is 2000 bonus points not 2500…unless you are a World of Hyatt Credit Cardmember.

4th May is the last day for the Halifax current account switch bonus for anyone interested. Tried to do it first my wife over the weekend but hit the buffers as, for some unknown reason her surname on her Halifax accounts has an extra Z on the end! Doesn’t look like we’ll be able to fix it in time so looks like she’ll miss out ☹️

Can I use capital on tap business card for paying a corporation tax bill and get the avios or is there a better card to take out? It is quite a substantial amount so any way to get something from it would be great?

  You can’t pay HMRC direct. You can do it via Curve I believe (1.5% fee with free Curve, no fee with Metal).

    Thanks Rob the bill will be around £80k so I guess curve metal will only pay for a portion of this, any other ideas appreciated?

      Why do you say that? The only limit is your Curve limit which for most people will mean the only limiting factor is £9k/day.

      There was a comment from Rhys (and I think Rob too) hinting that there might be something coming, which I read to mean something to encourage people to take-up the Marriott card. But they were very clear that they didn’t have any details. Rob / Rhys – I have been meaning to cancel my card off the back of that, but haven’t yet done so. Is there any reason I should cancel to give me more options going forward (even if you don’t know the details)?
