The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 21st April

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

  • TGLoyalty says:

A briefing document drawn up by officials at Public Health England shows that between 25 March and 7 April, 3,345 arrivals from India were registered in UK border travel data. Of those 161 – or 4.8% – tested positive for Covid-19 after a PCR test.

    Interesting stat.

  • Andrew says:

10% off at Harrods this weekend (in-store and online) useful to stack with the Amex offer.

  • Adil says:

Originally booked Dubai in Oct 2020 within the 50% avios sale for outbound in Feb which was cancelled, moved back to March (also cancelled) and then to May (cancelled yesterday). Seems like UAE/Qatar will remain on the red list until at least 01/07 so not interesting in re-routing via Doha but don’t fancy flying in July/August/Sept either. Anyone know if the 12 month limit from booking for cancelled reward flights can be extended or is it time to get a refund?

    • SHARON says:

I was able to reschedule from 22/4/21 to April 2022 for New York – booking had been made October 2020 in 50% sale with 2 for 1.

      • Harry T says:

How did you manage that, Sharon?

      • Adil says:

Thanks for the reply, did you have to do/say anything special to make this amendment? I’ve been told by BA that i have to complete outbound and return within 12 months of the original booking.

        • meta says:

Try doing it online via MMB. It might allow you. I suspect Sharon rescheduled her New York flight just as I did my Maldives flight earlier in the year also booked in sale. At first nothing was showing as available in MMB, but then after a day, I had most dates till the end of schedule available.

          • Harry T says:

Doesn’t work for my Japan flights that have been cancelled.

          • meta says:

@Harry T yes, it doesn’t work for everyone judging by comments here.

  • Eric says:

Does IHG not work with Bendy for HL?

    • Ashish says:
