REGISTER NOW: Hilton launches new bonus points promotion for stays from May

Hilton Honors has just launched its new Summer promotion, More Nights More Points, which is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

you will earn double Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 3rd May and 6th September

even better, you will earn triple base points on stays of 3+ nights

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements. The bonus will trigger on reward stays given how similar promotions have worked in the past.

The bonus is calculated from the base points you are due, excluding any status bonus. The bonus points do not count towards status.

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

there is no minimum stay requirement

existing bookings still count

all Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

This is a good deal on 3+ night stays

I tend to value a Hilton Honors point at 0.33p.

The main Hilton brands earn 10 base points per $1 spent. If you were a Gold Elite member, you would be earning 38 points per $1 on a 3+ night stay with this offer.

This is the equivalent of 50 points per £1.

(My maths is based on £1 to $1.40 and knocking off the 5% VAT.)

At 0.33p per point, you are earning a 17% rebate on your spending in points, which isn’t bad.

Remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Gold status. You can request a status match here.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete 5 nights during the 90 days you will keep your Gold status until 31st March 2023. If you complete 9 nights during the 90 days you will be elevated to top-tier Diamond status until 31st March 2023.

Conclusion

2x or 3x base points per stay is a decent offer, especially on 3+ night stays which trigger triple points.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 6th September.

    Bath and Cardiff are both around 2 hours by train from London.
    
    As is Manchester which is more urban but has several museums and galleries that are worth visiting.
    
    Durham is approaching 3 hours by train for its Cathedral and Castle.

        Remember that until May 17th you shouldn’t be staying in hotels for leisure anyway. Unless you go to Scotland where it’s OK from Monday. Had a bizarre exchange with the front desk at the DT Tower Hill last week who wanted proof I was in London on business. Could I provide a letter from my employer (well, that’s me). What about the people I was meeting. Could they vouch for it?
        
        I mean I understand they want to play by the rules but if they want this stuff in great detail, they should really explain it before arrival.

        We did a weekend at the InterCon O2 once despite living in Zone 1. Was dirt cheap for cash, it had a great pool for the kids and we did some East London sightseeing.

    They just want a letter on headed paper saying you are travelling for work reasons. I have been using one from a previous job I left in December this year – my stays haven’t been leisure related however, as I was living in hotels between two house moves. The hotel takes a photocopy, and they hold onto it in case of audit / police inspection.

      We have been staying in hotels recently – all pretty dire, even when a nice hotel, due to the lockdown while looking for a new home.
      All the hotels accepted “in connection with moving house” with no fuss. Mind you, I did quote the relavent text from gov.uk back at them when they sent me threatening e-mails.

        Hilton’s and DT wanted to see a letter (they both claimed to be accepting key workers only), Travelodge, HIX and Hamptons asked no questions.
        
        My former employer was a key worker (FM) and for most of the stays I was preparing to take up a new role in the emergency services so I had no guilt about the slight misuse of my letter

        Yeah, a Pullman has just asked me to bring “official” documents with dates and times for a stay next week, despite me sending them plenty of info’ already. Previous Compass-run hotel (eeeurgh!) didn’t give a toss what I was up to (although a lone middle age man in boring clothes I suspect triggers fewer questions than a family with kids arriving in flip-flops 😀 ). I can also confirm the very depressing nature of hotels during lockdown 🙁 .

  Get your walking shoes on, consider your fitness, then get the train or tube to the nearest suitable spot near the Thames and start walking along the Thames Path to your choice of hotel.

  Bath is always good if you’ve never been. DoubleTree in the city centre. Not the greatest hotel in the chain but location is great. Frankly if you have IHG points you’re better at the new Indigo though.

    The Indigo in Bath featured heavily in a recent comedy detective drama on TV. The murderee was seen there in her room and many of the suspects were staying there too. Useful publicity for them, I would have thought.

You are under playing the promo analysis a little bit here. As well as the double or triple points, there is also a 2,000 points per stay bonus on any length of stay. There is also a 5,000 point bonus for every 5 nights that you stay in the promo period.

So 5 x 1 night stays would earn 15,000 bonus points on top of the double points.

A single 5 night stay would earn 7,000 bonus points on top of the triple points etc.

Adds a bit more value to the return you get on your spend.

  Just to add, I notice that Hilton launched this yesterday with the bonus points element and have now swiftly removed it. I signed up yesterday when it was offering both the triple / double points, plus bonuses per stay.
  
  Clearly the promo page has been stripped down now to just the triple / double points. I’ll be sending a note in to my regular contact at Honors to find out what has changed suddenly! Unusual cock up for them to make.

  It’s been open for 3+ years so far, albeit tweaked along the way, so I wouldn’t worry about it going next week.
  
  However, it will remain as March 2023 expiry until, probably early 2022 (if it lasts that long) because March is when all Hilton status ends. It would tick over to March 2024 at that time.
  
  If you wait until September it will still say March 2023.
