Earn 2,000 Avios with a £47 six bottle wine offer

By coincidence, two offers launched this week which let you earn either 2,000 Avios or 2,000 Virgin Points by ordering a case of wine.

The two offers are from different companies (Laithwaites and Virgin Wines) so nothing – except the size of your wine rack – stops you ordering both. The Virgin offer is better value on a ‘pence per bottle’ basis as you are getting 13 bottles vs 6 with Avios.

This article looks at the new Wine Flyer / Laithwaites / Avios offer. A second article today looks at the Virgin Points wine deal.

What is the Wine Flyer offer?

Wine Flyer is the trading name for the Laithwaites arm which offers Avios.

The latest offer is decent value. Note, however, that you must be a new customer to Laithwaites / Wine Flyer. This may, although it isn’t clear, include any wine you ordered via The Sunday Times Wine Club or any of the other Laithwaites co-brand schemes.

The Wine Flyer package costs £47.94 including delivery.

You receive everything in the picture above:

  • a six-bottle mixed case
  • two Dartington Crystal wine glasses
  • a corkscrew
  • a link to a video tutorial which talks you through the features of each wine
  • 2,000 Avios

Unlike the Virgin Wines offer we have also covered today, you are not signing up for any club or subscription service. It is a one-off deal.

If you price the 2,000 Avios at £20, and you put no value on the glasses and corkscrew (although Dartington Crystal is generally good quality), you are paying £4.65 per bottle. You can’t argue about value for money on that basis.

You can order on the Wine Flyer website here.

New customers only for the 2000 Avios, if you’ve previously had a similar deal (like me), you will only get 250 Avios.

  • Ryan says:

Or 3,200 nectar which is still just as attractive per bottle and locks in that benefit

  • Florian says:

Are the wines any good? I ordered some 12 bottles in some similar scheme many years ago.. It ended up as loads of cooking wine :/

    • TM says:

Yes, I have stopped buying these cases as they just aren’t great. Wines are usually far too young to drink straightaway (the case of 12 I ordered last year had loads of 2020 bottles!)

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

    I can argue!
Go to Aldi, put a cap of £5 a bottle and buy grape types and wine colours that you enjoy.

    • Mikeact says:

Not with glasses and a corkscrew you can’t.

    • lumma says:

Any wine that’s £5 or less, the liquid is going to have cost under 50p to produce

  • Gavin says:

I’d be tempted to go for this but I took advantage in October 2019. Wine was delivered to my Dad and I got the 2k Avios.

I presume I won’t get the 2k if I have the wine sent to myself, as they will validate on BAEC accounts

  • SamG says:

Is it 12 bottles not 13? Thanks

    • Rob says:

We seem to be settling on 12 bottles. The picture on the Virgin Wines site shows 11 bottles plus the prosecco, for eg.

  • Mike says:

Worked for me for an AMEX Laithwaites offer last year – transaction showed as Laithwaites and the offer triggered correctly..

  • Ben says:

Don’t forget Airtime Rewards with Laithwaite. Only if paying by Mastercard. Must register your Mastercard with them. A very easy 10% for first purchase.
