    Had lunch there. New build hotel and very central – walkable to everything. It is on the ‘modern’ side of the city (new build cinema complex oppposite) but literally 2 minutes from the core Georgian area and the Theatre Royal.

    Yes my company HO is in Bath and we use this for company meeting staff accommodation and all in all is good in terms of staff, breakfast options and standard of rooms. Good solid 4* and centrally located close to sights and train station.

    Modern and clean, better than the street outside which is always full of litter from the cinema and food places across the road.
    I would say it is quite central but not as good a hotel or as a location as the Gainsborough. Not sure I’d class it as a 4* either.
    I prefer the royal crescent for service and views and the Gainsborough for a central location.
    If it was quite a bit cheaper than the others I may go for it.

  Has something changed with Vanguard and Curve? Have now trice tried to pay in, confirmed in the app once and with an SMS once, and both times the transaction hasn’t shown up in Curve, or on the underlying card. It shows as pending in Vanguard.
  Was working fine a few weeks ago.

    I think there were some discussions last week about a switch being flicked (my words) after the Easter BH that meant the transactions just vanished and no money was moved.
    Have a trawl through comments if you feel like it – on or just after the 6th.

      That sounds like what I’m experiencing, and yes, I found comments on the 9th to support that. Thanks.

      The uses for a Curve card continue to decline.

  I am living in England (close to Welsh border).

  Can I legitimately stay overnight in a hotel in Wales this week for leisure purposes?

  Welsh FAQ’s seem to say “yes”:

  English FAQ’s seem to say “no, because the corridor is shared” – but is it just that English hotels can’t open, and I can travel to a Welsh one and stay overnight with no issues?

    There’s an article on bbc website today that says “yes”. (And I know this is assuming bbc is correct!)

        Certainly Welsh hotels seem to think so. Bizarrely they are classing themselves as self-contained if they have en suite facilities and room service, whereas in England the reception and other common areas make them not self-contained!
        Also from today you can sleep in a hotel in Wales but eat in England as their restaurants aren’t open yet.

  There was mention of HIX Moab over the weekend when I didn’t have the info to hand, but if the pool and ability to pay with points aren’t crucial I would recommend Arches Drive B&B on basis of 2 nights there in 2017. Great welcome, comfortable stay, great breakfast. Looks to be about the same price as the HIX so not a complete steal but I would definitely stay there again.

  Just an fyi. If you have friends and family who travel on star alliance airlines and don’t care about points, try adding them to a SAS Eurobonus group. You can add friends or family and SAS seems to credit points to lower fare classes even when other airlines give 0, such as on fare class S and L.

    Aegean is better – but out of the blue they will ask you to send passport scans of everyone in your account group so be prepared

      Why would you say it’s better (genuinely wondering). The reason I preferred SAS was because in my experience based on wheretocredit it’s only SAS, ANA and one other I can’t remember that give points for lower fare classes.
      I think Aegean also require you to have status to make a group account which I doubt many on here will have.
