We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Good evening, question regarding “downgrading” from amex Gold credit card to amex fee free (transparent card) please, does this cause hard search on credit file? We are applying for mortgage now and just realised that we actually did this downgrade a couple week ago. Nothing we can do now I guess, but a bit unease as lender may feel that we are applying for new credit card even though we only downgraded.

    Thanks TGL. I think the same and never seen hard searches from them the last 6 months but not too sure. I guess they have their own database system if you’ve been with them for a while I guess…

  Maybe another time to plug (I mean raise awareness…) the various free-to-access credit report services out there (MSECreditClub, CreditKarma, etc) to check for new searches.

  Haha, tops out at 10 entries per person so maybe not. If there was no maximum entry limit and more spend kept getting you more entries, then I’d give a 99% chance that a HfPer would win.

    Hey Rob, the HfP credit card articles says that the card is relaunching as a Visa card in Summer 2021 – is this still happening?

      Lufthansa are confident something will happen, but the Cornercard website has now changed its wording and is sounding a lot less confident. Cornercard doesn’t talk to us so I don’t know.
