British Airways is adding two new routes to Jersey and Gibraltar from London City Airport this summer.
These are likely to be fairly safe holiday destinations, with Gibraltar having completed its vaccination drive and Jersey theoretically open to tourists from the UK from 26th April depending on your local authority.
If you need inspiration for trip, then you might like reader Matthias’ review of a day trip to Gibraltar.
Rob wrote this article after he spent a week in Jersey last summer.

The flights are operating twice a week – Mondays and Fridays – using BA CityFlyer’s Embraer E190 aircraft:
The first flights are on 25th June.
Gibraltar – BA3289 Monday and Friday, departing London at 13:15 and arriving in Gibraltar at 17:10
Jersey – BA3283 Monday and Friday, departing London at 09:45 and arriving in Jersey at 10:50 (these times change slightly in August)
These feature a 2-2 configuration in both Club Europe and Euro Traveller (there is no blocked seat in Club Europe).

Book now
The flights are now bookable on ba.com, although it looks like the flights haven’t been fully loaded yet, as no flights are showing after early July.
Once the flights are fully loaded, Avios availability should be wide open with two Club and two Euro Traveller (economy) tickets for Avios redemption on each flight. Apparently CityFlyer does not have four guaranteed economy seats per flight.
The Reward Flight Saver prices for Jersey are 4,750 Avios and £17.50 on-way in economy and 8,500 Avios and £25 in Club off-peak.
Gibraltar is slightly further and therefore slightly more at 7,250 Avios + £17.50 one-way in economy and 13,500 Avios and £25 in Club, off-peak.
Remember that there is no lounge at London City so, on the outbound, there is no real benefit to Club Europe apart from the improved food and drink. Jersey has a lounge but it is also in Priority Pass so you may have access via that route. Seating is 2×2 irrespective of class.
You can book on the BA website here.
