  I’m seeing an increase in the referral avios to 12k for the BAPP card and the new card holder gets 30k avios instead of 26k. Offer ends 12th May. Also the Amex gold card is 12k to me an 32k to the new card holder. Annoyingly this offer expires 1 week prior to my wife’s 24month with no Amex period so can’t take advantage!

  Can anyone help – trying to get to the US for work and understand I can’t get in from the UK. Anyone know what countries I can go to prior for two weeks? Tia

    Any that aren’t on the list, so for the purposes of a UK you need to avoid anywhere in the EU or Ireland.

    Personally I would look at Turkey, TK direct to IST. Cheap enough to spend a couple of weeks and TK are still flying multiple direct flights to US entry points.

      It’s not the whole of the EU as per the US Proclamation. It’s any country in the Schengen Area. The EU and Schengen aren’t interchangable.

      Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Cyprus are in the EU but not in Schengen so (so unless otherwise listed are regarded as safe by the US). You still have to have been there for 14 days before going to the US though.

      Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein aren’t in the EU but are in Schemgen and are thus on the banned list

    Check the US State Department website on what it regards as ‘safe’ countries. Croatia comes to mind and Turkey as well.

    Also isn’t there an essential work exemption?

  Question on Amex IAP: does it benefit from 2x points same as Amex Travel or is it treated separate like FHR?

  Amex referral offer – do you reckon if I refer my wife for platinum card (from my gold), she’ll get the 24k referral offer straight away and can then refer me back before the offer ends on 12th May??

  Hello, apologies if silly question. I have had the blue amex BA card for a while and have until 11 July to spend another approx 3k to get the 241 voucher. With the new promo referral deals I want to refer for a different card and not spend anymore on blue BA amex. Is there anyway I can upgrade my BA card to a BAPP, get the voucher (as lower 10k tbreshold), then immediately cancel the BAPP?

    Yes, easy. Try applying online for the BAPP – if it goes through, Amex will automatically cancel your free card and carry over all of your info. The voucher is issued immediately – it may accidentally be issued with just 18 months and not 30 but Amex can fix this if you contact them. You are then free to cancel the BAPP card – ignore any warnings from Amex about the 241 being cancelled.

  Uk citizen , Am in Dubai and looking to get back to the UK without the hotel quarantine . Any recommendations to spend the 10 days in warmer climate preferably and with direct flights from Dubai

    The UK list of quarantine countries is quite short so it won’t be hard – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/transport-measures-to-protect-the-uk-from-variant-strains-of-covid-19. Most people seem to choose Turkey. Obviously we don’t know what the restrictions are for Turkey arrivals from the UAE though.

      Thank you Rob . I can confirm entry to turkey from UAE hasn’t any restrictions , have had numerous friends do this via trip , last few weeks. With COVID cases rising in Turkey (possibly will be added onto UK red list soon ) I haven’t placed this on my option list
