We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    Only issue is with online offers where they don’t process payment until shopping so often buying on the last day is risky.

  I’ve probably had the equivalent of a week’s free shopping with this offer. Not bought any gift cards – I must be losing interest in this game lol. It’s been interesting as my Amex has been in credit due to a chunky BA refund but the Morrison’s rebate has still been posting so it looks as though I’ve actually been making a profit on my grocery shopping!

I even do this for cash bookings when required by client to spend a few days on site.

Have had a couple of very grateful clients when their end client cancelled forthcoming meetings at the last minute and I was able to check out of the hotel immediately and not have to bill the remaining nights. Status helped with one of them when I was technically just past the checkout time when I phoned the hotel. They gave me a late checkout to let me get back to clear the room same day.

It did cross my mind to unfortunately have to spend 2 extra days completely free roaming round Paris though… but I controlled myself 🙂 , returned to base and let the client have the benefit of my having booked the stay as 3 separate nights.

Does Hong Kong allow you to build up a credit balance on WE card to pay something above the credit limit?
