Who are the British Airways hotel partners where you can earn Avios?
It is very easy to earn Avios points when you stay at a British Airways hotel partner. Let’s look at who the airline works with.
In addition to earning Avios from flying, British Airways has commercial agreements with virtually every large hotel group to let you earn Avios on your stays or transfer their loyalty points into Avios. In this article we’ll look at which companies participate.
This page of ba.com shows all of the Avios hotel partners.
It is worth bearing in mind that almost every hotel group runs its own loyalty scheme, allowing you to earn and redeem their own loyalty points. Hotel schemes work with Avios in one of two ways:
you earn Avios INSTEAD of hotel loyalty points by telling them your BA Executive Club number at check in, or
you earn hotel loyalty points which you can convert to Avios when you hit certain thresholds
Some chains like IHG Rewards Club offer both options, to add to the confusion. With IHG, you can earn 2 Avios per $1 if you collect directly, or you can take IHG Rewards Club points and later convert them at a 5:1 ratio if decide not to use them for a free hotel night.
As of writing, the following hotels offer Avios bonuses:
Accor Hotels (Le Club AccorHotels)
Including Adagio, Ibis, M Gallery, Mercure, Novotel, Sofitel, Pullman. Raffles, Swissotel and Fairmont.
You must sign up with LeClub AccorHotels to transfer points to Avios at a rate of 4,000 LeClub AccorHotels points to 2,000 Avios. You can also set your account to auto-convert so that, after each stays, the points you earn are sent to Avios.
Note that taking Avios from Accor is generally a bad deal. Points are worth 2 Eurocents each if used for a hotel discount so you are paying 4 Eurocents per Avios if you convert your Accor points to Avios.
Best Western (Best Western Rewards)
You earn 500 Avios every time you book at with Best Western. We have a full article on the Avios / Best Western partnership here.
Radisson Hotel Group (Radisson Rewards)
Includes Radisson Hotels and Resorts, Radisson Blu, Radisson RED, Radisson Blu Edwardian, Park Inn by Radisson, and Park Plaza.
You do not need to be a member of Radisson Rewards to collect Avios – you can earn 500 Avios per stay at most brands by giving your BA Executive Club number at check in. If you choose to convert your existing points balance, you can only transfer in increments of 2,000, 50,000 or 100,000 points at a rate of 10 points for 1 Avios.
Fiesta Rewards
A minimum stay of two nights at the following properties earns you 2,000 Avios: Live Aqua Hotels, Grand Fiesta Americana Hotels, Fiesta Americana Hotels, and Fiesta Inn Hotels.
You can also transfer Fiesta Rewards points to Avios in increments of 3,000 at a rate of 3:1 Avios.
Hilton (Hilton Honors)
You must sign up as a Hilton Honors member to earn Avios. You earn 10 Hilton Honors points per $1 spent at most brands in the Hilton portfolio. You can transfer these points into Avios in increments of 10,000 Hilton Honors points at a rate of 10:1.
You cannot earn Avios directly from stays. In general it is a poor use of Hilton points to use them for Avios, especially as Hilton Honors lets you part-pay for rooms using your Hilton points. The rate is around 0.3p per Hilton point which means using them for a discounted future stay is far better than using 10 Hilton points (a 3p discount on a room) to get 1 Avios.
Hyatt (World of Hyatt)
You must join World of Hyatt in order to earn Avios at Hyatt properties.
You earn 500 Avios per stay at Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Zilara, and Hyatt Ziva hotels.
World of Hyatt points can also be converted to Avios in increments of 1,250 points, at a rate of 5:2 Avios (1,250 gets you 500 Avios). There is a minimum conversion of 5,000 World of Hyatt points.
InterContinental Hotels Group
You must join IHG Rewards Club in order to earn Avios.
You can earn 2 Avios per $ spent at InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, and Hotel Indigo. You earn 1 Avios per $ at Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites.
Existing points balances can be converted at the rate of 10,000 IHG points = 2,000 Avios.
Langham Hospitality Group
You do not need to sign up to the Langham hotel loyalty scheme to earn Avios.
You can earn 500 Avios per night at The Langham Hotels and Resorts and Cordis Hotel & Resorts properties, up to a maximum 1,500 Avios. You earn 250 Avios per night at Eaton Hotel properties, up to a maximum 750 Avios.
Langham also offers exclusive benefits to British Airways Gold members as this article shows.
Mandarin Oriental
You earn 800 Avios per stay, as well as a free upgrade to the next room category at check in (subject to availability) for British Airways Executive Club Silver and Gold members.
Mandarin Oriental does not have a points-based loyalty scheme of its own.
Marriott (Marriott Bonvoy)
You must sign up to Marriott Bonvoy to earn Avios.
You can earn 2 Avios per $ spent at most brands in the Marriott portfolio. There are now 29 brands following the acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Existing Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to Avios at the rate of 3:1.
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts (Golden Circle)
You do not need to be a member of Shangri-La Golden Circle to earn Avios.
You can earn 500 Avios stay at Shangri-La Hotels, Shangri-La Resorts, Traders, and Kerry Hotels (excludes corporate and discounted rates). It is also possible to convert your existing Golden Circle points into Avios at a rate of 1:1 with a 2,500 minimum.
PS. To make life more complicated, Iberia has some exclusive Avios hotel partners of its own. These hotel chains – such as Iberostar (see our ‘My Iberostar’ review) credit Avios to Iberia Plus and you would need to move them to British Airways Executive Club via ‘Combine My Avios’. This article explains which hotel groups are involved.
