How to earn and redeem Avios for flights on Mexico’s Interjet

You can redeem Avios for flights on far more airlines than are shown on the British Airways website.

Here is our last article on the full list of airlines on which you can redeem Avios points.  It needs an update, but you can see that Iberia has a few partnerships of its own.

I wanted to highlight one of these today.  Iberia now has an Avios redemption partnership with Interjet, the third largest airline in Mexico.

Spending Avios on Interjet

This is restrictive but may work for some.

If you are flying to or from Mexico on an Avios ticket using Iberia (BA’s Mexico City service does not count) then you can add on a connecting redemption on Interjet.

The pricing is:

7,500 Avios for a connection up to 650 miles

12,500 Avios for a connection between 651 and 1,150 miles

16,500 Avios for a connection between 1,151 and 2,000 miles

Earning Avios on Interjet

You can also earn Avios when you fly with Interjet but, again, it is restrictive.

Your flight must be booked with an Iberia (IB) flight number, which is usually only possible if you are connecting to or from a long-haul Iberia flight.

The earning rate is 1 Avios per 1 mile flown, in economy or premium economy.  The exception is deeply discounted economy flights in sub-classes Q, O or A which earn 0.5 Avios per 1 mile flown.
