You can now claim your 25,000 IHG Rewards points for having Spire Elite status

If you had your IHG Rewards Spire Elite status rolled over last year, even though you didn’t earn enough points to requalify, there is some good news.

Your 25,000 bonus IHG Rewards points for requalifying as Spire Elite are now available to claim.

Alternatively, you can gift Platinum Elite status to a friend.

Given that the points are worth at least £100 I doubt many of you will want to do any gifting, but you can review the Platinum Elite benefits on this page of ihg.com.

Many of us thought that the points would not arrive

When IHG rolled over elite status last year, it specifically said that members who were Spire Elite WOULD receive their requalification gift.

The gift usually appears immediately when you requalify but in this case it did not. No-one was sure what was happening, but as IHG Rewards had voluntarily extended status you couldn’t really complain.

All has turned out well, however, and the 25,000 points are now available.

How do you claim your 25,000 IHG Rewards bonus points for being Spire Elite?

Go to ihg.com here and log in to your account.

On your account home page, scroll down and you will see this:

Click the link and you are taken to this page:

You can then choose between gifting Platinum Elite status or taking the points.

It is good to see IHG Rewards coming through here, when they could easily have said that people who were gifted requalification would not receive anything.

No sign of my IHG Premium credit card fee night yet. Card applied for at the beginning of January last year (though my Creation account was showing spend progress towards last year’s voucher until my statement at the end of January this year). Spent well over the £10K threshold – should I have the voucher by now?

  Yes – there’s an issue which seems to be affecting people randomly where the vouchers aren’t being issued. Neither Creation nor IHG seem to know exactly how to resolve it though so you may be in for a frustrating time.

    And yes, I will get it (or suitable alternative recompense) even if it goes to Financial Ombudsman if Creation can’t get their act together (since they are the ones who offered it).

Does anyone know when they sent the email confirming that elite spire benefits of £25k will be given for 2020? I cannot find it and IHG are not budging. They say that no such offer available to anyone.

    Thanks Rob. I found the webpage, still live. After sending them, IHG have budged and admitted they were wrong. They did ask me to wait until 31 March to see if it appears, if not they will then manually do it ( which I’m sure of it will be manual)

Everything was as Rob said it would be, but when I clicked add points it said “Benefit Redemption is not found”. In the expired and redeemed benefits suctions it stated that I had redeemed the point, but they did not appear in my account. Is there a delay in the deposit of points?
