Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Your 500 Avios from Nectar should have posted

If you took part in the Avios / Nectar launch promotion, take a look at your British Airways Executive Club account.

Avios was offering a bonus of 500 points if you transferred 1,600 Nectar points into Avios. These have now arrived, at least for me.

You will NOT receive the bonus if you moved 1,000 Avios to Nectar and immediately moved them back again. I’m surprised to see that BA’s IT was up to spotting that, but it did.

Triggering this bonus also triggered double base Nectar points on your shopping at Sainsbury’s up to 19th April. These points are not meant to arrive until 28 days after the end of the offer, so you should expect them in mid May.

If you are not up to speed with the new Avios / Nectar partnership, we have created a new HfP category for the articles. You can see them all by clicking here or by selecting ‘Sainsbury’s and Nectar’ from the categories menu which appears on every article page in the right-hand sidebar on the desktop site.

Online transfers between Avios and Nectar remain suspended whilst site security, including 2FA, is beefed up.

Last night I tried changing the credit card on our online Morrisons grocery order for tomorrow from the BAPP card (which doesn’t have the offer) to both the 2 cards that we have with the 10% offer and both cards failed authorisation for some unknown reason. Changed it back to the BAPP card and it worked fine. I’ll try again later today.

From today’s Mail. Might be of interest to someone.

ENJOY 10,000 NECTAR POINTS WITH YOUR FREE EQUITY RELEASE QUOTE.

  • Phil says:

Slightly off topic….. I received my 15,000 Virgin points yesterday for switching bank accounts but how do I get the free 500 bonus points for first using the app?

Will they send me a new code soon?

Also is the app slow to track? I used it to shop at Argos last weekend and nothing is showing.

  • Olly says:

I haven’t had any of these offers on my Platinum but sometimes they list later inn my account. A word about the Morrisons offer, which I did get last time and used it to go down the route of gift card hoping to buy Amazon. Morrisons had pulled their Amazon gift card due to the issues mentioned of them not being set up properly causing lots of hassle for customers. Instead I went for part Morrisons, part One4all, the latter I would not recommend as I find the terms and conditions quite prescriptive when it comes to online purchase to get the full value from them. I chose Once4all did tho their bigger acceptance footprint but until I can go in to a shop too is then I won’t bother again.

I dont currently have an airtime rewards acct but yesterday posts suggested that there is a morrisons discount on there too, if so does that mean its possible to stack the amex, virgin and airtime rewards discounts for up to 30% off? And that works on giftcards?

    • MD says:

Unfortunately Airtime Rewards don’t accept Amex. You can only use AR for your Visa and MCs.

      • Andrew says:

True, but why use an Amex 10% offer that can’t be stacked with Airtime, PAW, or Virgin Red when there’s you could use an MBNA 15% offer, Santander 15% offer or Virgin Money 10% offer that can?

    • ChrisC says:

Don’t rely on getting the morrisons offer.

I’ve had airtime for a couple of months and nada for morrisons.

  • Mike says:

Got mine, and I only transferred a 1000

  • Reney says:

I also had a terrible experience with buying Amazon gift card last time. Too scarred to try again.

Can anyone tell me if I buy itunes gift card, redeem it on my apple account will my monthly icloud payment come off the gift card balance? Or will they carry on charging card on file? Basically do they deduct gift card balance before charging your card for regular subscriptions. Thx

  • Harry T says:

Has anyone managed to stack Virgin flying club, airtime rewards and PAW at Morrison’s, or do they cancel each other out?

I have 6 points per pound with VFC, 10% back with airtime rewards, and 10 Wow points per pound with PAW. Would be a nice stack but if it won’t work, I’ll stick with 10% off with Amex plus the six BFC points per pound.

    • Reney says:

+1 interested to know but saw early comment from someone suggest maybe?

do you have the virgin credit card? I have 10% back for spending over £30 on my virgin card. But no flight club points.
