The HfP chat thread – Saturday 6th March

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

AA domestic First from LAX to HNL, is that 140 tier points or 210 tier points? Thanks.

    • E14 says:

140 changed a few years back

Note Hawaii has more strict Covid requirements

See if you can get the 777 out of DFW way nicer if you can work that in ** not checked to see what AA is currently operating

  • John W says:

I read somewhere today that Seychelles are opening up to UK travellers end of March . If lockdown restrictions are lifted end of month also , can we fly to Seyshelles ?
I was thinking end April ?
What will the restrictions be on return to UK ?
    Probably getting excited too early

    • A says:

If it’s legal to travel then yes however we don’t yet know what quarantine restrictions there will be on return back to the UK. My own feeling is that the eventual rules will be such that unless you have both doses of the vaccine, you will face significant annoyance on travel to various countries or on return to the UK in terms of restrictions

    • TGLoyalty says:

They might allow you to enter but it’s up to your nation to let you leave.

Currently in England god abroad for leisure will be prohibited until May 17th at the earliest.

      • meta says:

Seychelles is on the red list, so that means hotel quarantine. I think they will stay for a while on the list despite Seychelles having vaccinated nearly 70% of their small population.

    • Rob says:

Under current law then, yes, you can fly because it will be legal to leave home. Some new legislation is expected to make it legal to leave home but not enter an airport, however.

  • Alan says:

I am also getting a unrecognised card error when trying to buy Premium Bonds on Bendy business metal.

Is this a known problem that is likely to resolve itself, or do I need to contact Curve.

    Thanks

    • Travel Strong says:

Curve can’t fix the rejection, and it’s unlkely to resolve for commercial cards – but you can ask them for a personal card instead.

  • Crafty says:

You can exchange NatWest Rewards for JL Vouchers with a 4% boost.
