The HfP chat thread – Friday 5th March

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Quick question! We’re due to fly to Crete on 17th May which BA have already rescheduled. It seems unlikely we’ll want to go anyway as a toddler and potential quarantine feels….not relaxing. I’ve just noticed BA no longer sell flights on the date we fly, and see, to have pulled all flights to HER from sale until the 18th May. So, can I safely assume at some point soon they’re going to cancel our flights altogether?

    • Rob says:

Yes. They won’t cancel until very late, however, to encourage you to take the voucher and not a cash refund.

    • Gin and Tonic Please says:

Looks like 23 May now. Also Chania looks like it’s cancelled until 29 May.

      • Toby says:

Oh thanks! Maybe I noticed this as they were withdrawing flights from sale!

To reset your BA password you need to go to forgotten password, and use your email address in the Login ID field.

You then get an email, click the link and type a new password. In some cases this will suffice.

If not, try to log in again with your email address, and if that fails, repeat this from the top.

In some cases, you will then have a 2FA request where you can get a code by email or SMS.

So the process could involve up to 3 emails from BA.

If this still doesn’t work wait until next week and try again.

    • Martyn Ford says:

Thank you very much for this which worked well.

    • Ross says:

Thanks for this – and what a long winded process as it basically involved resetting my password twice. But this BA after all, so I wouldn’t expect them to make it easy.

I got an email from Singapore Airlines this morning about the same data breach, but they didn’t require a password reset.

Thanks. It worked for me. However, signing in with membership number no longer works for me and I can only sign in with my email and new password.

Lots of earlier comments re curve not working with Ernie but has anyone had issues with spending on curve normally today? Tried to use it to buy some cards on moonpig…;) but kept getting declined
